TRAIN AT HOME:
Mantis Laser Academy enables you to set up a dry fire laser range that is powerful, safe, convenient, and very inexpensive. Laser Academy drills are built to enhance your shooting performance, in both marksmanship and speed. Test your skills against your friends using dueling drills that allow you to shoot side by side.

KEY FEATURES:
- Automatic target detection
- Automatic shot detection
- Automatic scoring
- Marksmanship, speed, and reaction time drills
- Shooter-to-shooter dueling drills
- Save to history

GETTING STARTED:
Once you have your gear, you are ready to train. Before getting started check the training area and all firearms for safety. Ensure any firearms are unloaded and remove live ammunition from the training area.
- Place the smart targets in the desired location. Avoid areas where glare from lights and windows may the affect detection of shots on the targets.
- Place your smartphone on the tripod and point the rear camera at the target(s) you have placed.
- If you are using a laser cartridge, load the laser cartridge into the chamber of your firearm.
- Launch the Mantis Laser Academy app on your phone, select a drill, and proceed to train.

DRILLS and SMART TARGETS:
The Mantis Laser Academy app has a variety of drills focused on different aspects of shooting. Some drills require specific smart targets. Other drills work with any smart target. Several drills support multiple targets and allow local competition between shooters.

Smart targets are automatically detected and scored by Mantis Laser Academy. Using smart targets provides the most enjoyable and valuable training experience. The Control Target allows you to Start, Stop, Clear, and Close in the app by shooting specific regions on the Control Target.

Mantis Laser Academy has a selection of free drills and a selection of drills that can be purchased or unlocked. You can purchase a single drill or Full Access in the app.

Our mission is to help every shooter improve their accuracy and confidence. Mantis Laser Academy is the latest innovation in our next-level shooting systems designed to help you achieve a higher level of proficiency.

Train smarter, train better, train with Mantis.

## Mantis Laser Academy Reviews in United States

### **--- "terrible zoom because it only uses one camera!"
the iphone 13 pro max has 3 cameras
one of them is a 5x zoom
so mantis should be able to zoom far with no loss in image quality
it doesn't
it only uses the 1x camera, which results in terrible image quality and so is unable to recognize target far away
-- Mcdroid, 2025-04-14

### ***** "Fantastic app"
My mantis laser bolts keep locking up but they’ll send you a new one. This is a review for the app though. 5/5
-- John Dickinson, 2025-04-07

### **--- "Ruined"
Prior to version 2.0 this app was great. In 2.x versions the interface is just awful, particularly with the “Moving” spinner. If you tap the screen at all while the interface expects a target, the screen dims and nothing is tappable because that light tap moves the device/phone and will reject further input until the phone stops moving. I swear they must lock their test phones in a vice so it physically can’t move but not that lucky. I’m literally using the stand that came with the system. Just remove that “Moving” screen for the love of God!!!!!!!

### ***** "Great training exercise"
This is a great way to practice and save money. Only negative that I have noticed is once in a who it will register a few shots instead on one. Doesn’t happen often and not a good reason to make it a 4 star. I highly recommend this.
-- Beginner prepper, 2025-03-06

### ****- "Great except…"
The only thing that I would say could improve this would be if I could listen to music in the background. For some reason when I start up a drill the music turns off and I can’t play it in the background. I think this is because I am using the camera for the target. Other than that small thing, the app and everything works great.

### ***** "Larry"
Great practice on trigger pull,

### **--- "Nice idea, in practice annoying"
Got this for my birthday for dry fire practice, when it works it’s a great tool.

Setting it up so it works is pretty annoying. It’s very sensitive and is constantly losing my target so can’t develop any kind of rhythm.
I’m using the tripod with my phone about five feet away from a small target and range set to 3 yards and it will not register the target.

Opening the settings shows my shutter is just moving up and down without any input from me. If I try to reposition my phone or the targets it starts simulating rounds like the bank robbery scene in “Heat”, which frankly doesn’t lend itself to a smooth experience. I just find myself putting it away after ten minutes.
-- B4xT, 2025-02-14

### ***-- "Lack of Blackbeard options"
The basic idea of this app is good, but the fact there are ZERO Blackbeard specific courses available, and all of the drills are more geared to pistol shooting is kind of lame. The Blackbeard unit wasn’t cheap, I expected a lot more support for it specifically from the app. I’ve had the system for roughly 6 months or so and barely think to use it anymore because the lack of updates and Blackbeard support have made it kinda boring.
-- Bobbies world blows, 2025-02-14

### ***-- "Pretty good"
Just tried it and I like it but already found some annoyances. If using the tripod on carpet your phone will move slightly when selecting options and it will say something like "moving" and not let you select buttons like to start the drill (I know I can use the paper target). Can we get a favorite button for drills? I would like to only see the couple drills I use and not see jingle bells and die hard all the time. I get a lot of accidental clicks while scrolling. Also when calibrating, the text box for instructions covers half the screen so I can't see the crosshairs I am trying to move.
-- ttimothyp16, 2025-02-13

### ****- "As advertised"
App does what developer says. It’s up to you to put in the work. Personally I think it’s invaluable if you don’t get to the range more than once a month.
