It is a great app that i have been using for years i like the fact you can control the camera in ways you won’t be able to do with the stock app but now i have just upgraded my phone and i realise there is no aperture control and its a shame i have to go back to the stock app where i have it
there's a lot to like about this camera app. it's similar in looks to the native video camera app and obscures the 16:9 frame with a similar amount of GUI chrome as the native app. also includes audio level meter which is useful. it's the only video recording app I'm aware of which differentiates between mono and stereo audio monitoring (ie you get two meters, one for each channel when recording stereo - this gives an easy visual check, bravo) niggles me that there is no quick way to select the video resolution & framerate - it takes a while to cycle between 1080p@60 and 4k for example. also, for video, it does not save the state if the app closes in the background - defaults back to 1080@30 - thus my comment about how long it takes to select video attributes. its cool though (assuming you want the simplicity of reliable single reticle), and saves videos straight to camera roll rather than its own silo.
Although the features for taking live shots are good (adjust exposure, focus etc) you can't use *any* of those to edit your existing videos. Existing videos can only have filters applied, which is already possible in Instagram. This should be made clearer in the description / screenshots. Just wasted £1.49 :(
Slowing the shutter speed lets in more light and there is no way to compensate. You might think you just compensate with the EV control but it has no effect at all after you have set the shutter speed. So I can't use this app for one of its advertised benefits since the photo is now overexposed. I can try changing the EV before but then that's just guesswork. Also the ISO and speed seem curiously linked together thus undoing some of the values you thought you had set.
Understandably simple because it's only accessing the iOS 8 camera API, same with all the others. I liked the ability to set white balance, it often seems wrong automatically. I would like: 1) longer sliders 2) Calibration on the focus, even if it's just 1m, 2m, 5m, 10m, infinity. Then I can guess the distance (quicker than the camera). It's best use for me will be grab shots, where I want to secretly set it up without having to train it on the subject, then quickly point and immediately shoot. That was easy on a 1969 Praktika, it's time technology caught up and allowed me to take a photo ... NOW.
