The best for Calibre & iPad

lostfrogg on

After much reading, searching and trying apps, I was about to abandon the splendid Calibre, and revert back to the slick and pretty but very limited Apple Books. Then I found this app. I initially tried it and skipped it, because parts of it looked naff and I couldn’t import my PDFs. Then I tried the full version and it worked. It just doesn’t work in the free version. The app is looking great so far - can see page thumbnail view and contents (like Apple Books but which many apps don’t offer. One thing - PLEASE allow us to increase the size of the cover thumbnails in grid view - they’re too small. The wooden shelf effect would have to increase in size also of course.

Great e-reader with lots of unique features

Wilkobot on

I am a huge fan of the app, after trying several e-readers on the app store I settled on Mapleread. Mainly due to the following features: - Being able to enable/disable the publisher's theme provides more flexibility over epubs that have not formatted correctly. This is quite a unique feature I have only seen in a couple of other apps. - Black theme - The tag feature is useful for organising books. - Book highlights/notes can be exported to CSV format The developers welcome feedback and are committed to adding new functionality on a regular basis. Keep up the good work!

Great reader, horrible for importing books

Martin S Taylor on

As a reader it’s pretty good. The interface is powerful, easy to use, and comfortable to read from. However the interface for maintaining the library – importing books and so forth – is horrendous. It tries to provide thousands of ways to import books from every kind of server, and in fairness it probably succeeds. But understanding how to actually use this feature is gently melting my brain. I want to like this app, I really do. But until the interface is more clearly laid out, and is more consistent with existing iPad apps, I can’t give it more than two stars.

Great customer service

Polyfun on

I have just got version 3.5.2 and the developer has fixed a bug with user fonts that I reported to them a couple of weeks ago. This is great support for a great reading app.

Great Comprehensive Reader

skgettingold on

Since deciding to move away from Marvin 3, still a great app, but struggles a bit with ePUB V3 metadata. I found this after looking at quite a few. Liked this because fully featured and is not trying to be a subscription model. Which, i do not really get, if i have to pay a subscription then best to just buy a dedicated device. I have both but when I am travelling I usually just have my IPAD so I can pick up on what I was reading. If its not on my Kindle/Kindle app. I would say that it also struggles with EPUB 3 metadata in that it does not recognise Series information, but yet to find anything that does. Just have to convert to EPUB2 if that is a concern for anyone. So overall good reader.

Quite good

I like the reader, it feels natural, book like on an iPad in landscape mode. It’s quite tedious loading books with lots of steps and potential pitfalls to go through.
