Best free one

Of the free apps, this one is by far the best. If you don’t plan on spending money go with this one. Not sure how good the paid versions are, this one may be very good compared to others if you pay, but I wanted something free and this one is IT!

Just what I needed

A perfect app for studying the alphabets. I now comfortably can read the characters for hiragana and katakana after a couple of months of on and off practice, ありがと!

Adorable, effective and addicting

Love this app! It makes learning the basics fun and easy. The drills are bite sized so you can do them anywhere, any time!

I’M LEARNING

I like the UI and the voice for the app but I just thought I wasn’t retaining it bc I needed more input. But the other day I was reading the katakana on this website and some packaging I had way easier than before. Gave me confidence in my effort!

So so

Randomization is extremely bad, I often get the same symbol (which I know perfectly well) three times in a row. The right approach is to find learner’s weak spots and correct their knowledge or spread assignments evenly. It seems currently the app creates a random lottery.

This has been a fun learning experience and it’s free it helps with VERY simple grammar and teaches you the kana portion of Japanese.
