Medium is the best platform for writers
I looove Medium. I can’t say it enough. I started writing in June this year and I didn’t have the courage to post my writing on any of my social media; I just wanted to find a place to practice and get better, and to pour my heart out without everybody knowing about it. Medium is that place for me. It is an amazing and supportive community, and I will never stop writing again.
Can’t finish sign up
I cannot click on Finish to complete the signup flow when presented with the “Follow” screen.
Mediocre content
Pretty full of brief articles with titles such as “5 ways to improve your self-esteem” or “3 ways to get more happy”. The usual topics are shallow, self-centered and not too intelligent. The language and style are what I’d call amateurish, but proof-read. You’ll find more interesting and free content on Quora.
You get less in the App!
Many important features are missing from the App vs if you just open your browser on your phone! It is terrible! Why take the time to make an App if it is not going to be as good or better than the browser version?! They did not add the “listen” feature so you can listen to articles on the go! And they limited your highlight options in the App, so you can not get your phone to read for you! Why would you do this on the phone? Everyone would love Audio articles! But no… stay away! Waist of space on your phone when it is better to open your browser!
Isn’t worth the time any more
I have used medium for a long time. Have watched the quality of the articles keep dropping. Medium makes no effort to stop this development, and now the most wired and stupid articles ends up in your feed.
Latest update ruined my experience
A month ago I would probably have rated 4 or 5 stars. Since the latest update, suggested articles have been more heavily based on what I'm already following, instead of suggested articles from outside my network. One of Medium's strengths is the bulk of amazing content - another used to be Medium's ability to show you content you didn't know you wanted. This has almost disappeared with the latest update. So sad.
