What is happening to meet up?

Was created as a kind gift to humans to make friendly connections since 911 & fees kept free or low. Created for pure & kind needs. Now asking for fees at every turn. Adverts could help enough pls to keep running. Hosts pay higher fees & charges rising to attendees & already high. So sad as a lifeline to many like older people, special need & lonely people & rise in mental health needs …keep it safe. So so sad. Why exists otherwise?? Pls do not monitise such a good app that was created kindly.. support.

What’s the point of free connections.

Free connections don’t seem to work - can’t message my free connections, so what the point.

Last nail in the coffin

Meetup are driving organisers away to other platforms due to rising costs. It was perfect, but making people pay to be able to recognise people they are meeting when the first meet them is both unfair and IMO a bit dangerous, especially for women meeting a group for the first time. I don't know if management has changed and they are trying to monetise, but what I loved is sadly no longer available.

So disappointing

This used to be a really good app but the most basic features are now behind a paywall. You can’t even message group attendees for co-organisers. Please go back to how it was.

Prioritise payment over safety

I have met weird & dangerous men at events on this app before who I try to avoid when rsvp-ing but now you can’t see anyone unless you pay or you can click on each individual persons account which would take forever at events that have rsvp 80+ this app has gone so downhill anyone I speak to about it says the same & don’t use it anymore, most groups I’m in have come to a close because the owners can’t afford them anymore & demand has decreased as people don’t want to even attend them anymore. Used to be such a good app to socialise but now you’re put into a chokehold to pay every 5 mins & no one cares to use it so I might end up deleting it

The app keeps harassing me to pay for Meetup+

It’s exspensive, often doesn’t work well and could be a real community hub if there weren’t a lot of ‘pay yo unlock’ feature… improve it for the user

The app itself is great. I regularly organise events but prices from meet up gone up so much that they force you to charge for your events, which I don’t like. Let’s hope the adjust it in the future.

Used to be good, they now just seem to be on a massive cash grab, ughh! 5 pound a week to just have back what I used to have for free, umm yeah No Thanks!
