It’s great to keep up with events that your groups are having. It’s also great to discover new groups. However, when I get an alert about a new group or event, I click on it to get more information but it doesn’t take me to it. I have to search for the group or event that I was alerted about. That’s time consuming.
This is a great app and resource when it’s fully working. For at least a month now, I do not get in-app notifications for new meetup events. This makes it very hard to know what group is having an event, unless I go to all the individual group pages at a constant to look. I am a member of so many groups, that it’s not viable for me to do that. It’s hard to understand why their engineers are still having such a hard time fixing this.
Is there a way to lower the cost of using meetup. It would be great if there was a sliding scare based on the number of members. My group (River city running club) has less than 100 members so would like to find a way to have a lower cost.
I use both computer and iPhone to keep track of my events and the phone app is very poorly setup. I rely on my computer to setup events and only resort to my phone when absolutely necessary. I have also reset the push notifications a few times to eliminate them but they keep coming back with inappropriate groups and event suggestions.
App and website are good enough. Still, I kinda live in void, as I already knew. Hour minimum from either major city “near” me, assuming traffic. Continually little of interest if you are a single 30-something that doesn’t drink much or work 9-5, M-F. My area is simply dominated by groups catering to 55+ that are willing to drop everything on a whim to drive long distances for gatherings of little interest to me in the middle of the week. Rare 20/30s groups sometimes just disappear, too, and often have events more than half an hour away from me. A developer survey probably can’t fix all that. All that said, I eventually found one or two semi-active 30s groups that have worked for me. Might not have found those groups without this app. So, OK…
Great way to meet people and practice French. Love it!
The app has been glitchy for months. First, I lost the capability to add events to my calendar… it kept suggesting that I give meetup full access to my calendar, NO WAY. Now I can’t even get into the app, gives a 503 error or something. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, still won’t work. I submitted a ticket with support. Nice I heard from them immediately, but after one fix suggestion, I haven’t heard back.
I’ve never seen such an incompetent deployment of an app but at least 20 years later they still have same stupid glitches
Yesterday I paid for Meetup Pro $34.99/month and Meetup keeps asking me to renew my subscription or to sign up for Meetup Pro. I checked my bank account and they took the $34.99 I tried to contact someone from Meetup. They give you a code but that’s it! The link is dead so I did not get to talk to anyone. In consequence, I am canceling the events, delete everything and stop using this app. It’s definitely a scam. Now I am going the bank to file a claim and report fraud.
Keep sending lots emails despite I’ve already unsubscribed it!!!
