I subscribed this app for 3 years and I like it so much for keeping me alive with the French studies. Recently they have AI conversation which is really superb.

Videos are fun. Basics being paywalled isn’t
I really like the videos made. They feel a lot more engaging than standard textbook situations because they’re often a bit more up to date with real situations. However I don’t enjoy the fact that very basic things such as additional letters of the alphabet or things marked as “basic” by Memrise are paid content. I’m okay with more advanced situations being paywalled but I really shouldn’t have to pay to learn the last few characters of the alphabet I’m
my records reset back to where they were a month ago
When I logged into the same account with my other phone (both of which remain logged in), my records reset back to where they were a month ago, all for naught...
Practice conversation
The practice conversation scenarios are far too advanced and it’s very frustrating as the bot often can pick up any of what I say.
Phasing out community courses
The phasing out of community courses is the dealbreaker for me. I won’t be using the app any longer if this feature is not available. Memrise should at the very least keep the existing courses on the app so users can continue their learning progress. Very disappointing, and I regret paying for Pro.
Dishonest business practices
I bought a lifetime membership to Memrise, as I use it for memorizing student names and faces through self-made courses. The ‘lifetime membership’ was marketed aggressively, despite the fact that Memrise had already decided to offload this (most popular) feature of their service. I will therefore get to use my ‘lifetime membership’ as it was for just two months. If you want to try the App for free, by all means go for it, but never give them your money.
Unsubscribed after the update
Disappointed. They basically changed it to another app completely by removing all the features that people love about the app (eg. community courses, levels, dashboards)
