Merriam-Webster Dictionary+

Best English dictionary. Especially for second language speakers. It is American English, but has the British version as well. It is clear in its definitions, but has thorough explanations and etymology. All other dictionaries, including Oxford and Cambridge suck in comparison.

I use this app almost every day! Amazing that I can get a dictionary with etymology for free and for offline use (even without taking up a lot of disk space on my phone)!

A nice app, thorough and with a nice interface. I like the different colours, it makes navigating through the word's description easy. The pronunciation of the words are only mediocre, though, lots of noise on many of the pronunciations. Fortunately, it's real voices reading the words and not a machine. Keep it that way. Fix the noise issues with the pronunciations, it is time well spent and quite important for non-English speaking users. With first class pronunciations this app will earn top marks, but only three stars as it is now
