## Mic Drop Description
Thousands of people rely on Mic Drop to keep them quiet during meetings, podcasts, and even online magic shows.

The premise is simple: mute and unmute yourself using a keyboard shortcut or a menu bar control. (Or AppleScript, or your Stream Deck, or your AirPods!) It works with every meeting app out there—from Meet to Slack, FaceTime to Teams.

No need to have your meeting app open—you can mute and unmute any time, even if you aren’t anywhere near your computer! And thanks to a the menubar icon, audio and visual notifications, and a floating status window, you’ll always know whether you’re muted or not.

Features:

- A custom keyboard shortcut that works in any app.
- Works with every app and (almost) audio device out there.
- Automatically keeps you muted (or unmuted!) if you change audio devices.
- Supports push-to-talk and push-to-mute.
- Shows your microphone status in the menu bar.
- Choose from a variety of icons.
- Audible and visual notifications.
- A great big “on air” window for when the menu bar icons aren’t big enough.
- Quick microphone switching from the menu bar.
- Stream Deck plugin.
- AirPods Press to Mute support.
- Coming soon: app-specific tweaks + support!
- Free 30 day trial of pro features.
- Warns you if macOS can’t mute your device. Be confident you’re really muted!
- Respects your privacy. Mic Drop never records you and does not require microphone permissions.
- Hand-coded by a duo of dedicated indie developers who fix bugs and add features based on your feedback.

Because Mic Drop mutes your audio at the system level, it works with any app you can imagine. We’ve tested with:

- Zoom
- Slack
- Google Meet
- Microsoft Teams
- Skype
- Discord
- FaceTime
- and many more!

It just works. No matter where you’re meeting, Mic Drop’s got you covered.

A note on hardware compatibility:

Mic Drop works with just about any audio device out there, but some audio devices can’t be muted by macOS, so Mic Drop can’t control them. All bluetooth and wired headphones work—it’s just some niche USB audio interfaces that Mic Drop won't mute. Mic Drop will warn you if it detects an incompatible device. A list of problematic devices are listed on our support page.
