Whinger on the go,

I have used Excel on an Acer some time ago. It is a first class spreadsheet. However, I no longer have access to a laptop and am trying to set up similar spreadsheets on an iPad. I find it quite frustrating at times as things which were simple on the laptop don’t work as well on my tablet. The toolbar is a bit restrictive.

Brilliant implementation of the timeless classic

Microsoft has produced one of the best transitions of a desktop program to the touch realm. Excel for iPad is easy to use, with thoughtful conversions of menu based choices to touch commands. There are minor rough spots such as if you rename a worksheet when Excel is one of two windows, the keyboard partially covers the tab, involving some guesswork as to what you are typing. There is room for enhancement: incompatibility with Visual Basic for Applications means no User Defined Functions, so not all of your desktop workbooks will deliver full functionality. No Shortcuts support is also a little disappointing. Overall though, this is a serious version of a serious product.

I installed this spreadsheet on my iPad out of a sense of fairness and inclusivity, even though I’m happy working with Apple’s Numbers and Google Sheets—and LibreOffice on the desktop; but that’s a story for another day. However, I’m sick and tired of it sticking its beak in _every_ time I download a CSV file. Deleting now.

Annoying features to your app.

Why in Gods name I am required to verify I am not a robot to sign up to your app, but the moment I need to pay any bill online this question is never asked by you and others, making it entirely simplistic to take someone’s money. Therefore, if someone had to go through this BS verification to make payment on an existing bill, the person would just turn off their device and would not pay the account.
