Beware of the Autosave feature on the latest version of Excel.
I used to update spreadsheet templates from previous years and then save them as the template for the current year. It is impossible to do this anymore.
There is a new auto save feature that updates the spreadsheet every 10 seconds if you retrieve an old template and then start changing it to the current template, you are in for a shock. It overwrites the original template, in other words it corrupts it, if you try to do this. 
The new version is wedded hey system which will update the sheet you are working on every 10 seconds and so corrupt  original template.

They suggest that you save the old template as a copy and then rename the copy and then edit it. In reality it is an awkward and clunky. I corrupted old templates while I was trying to do this.
Microsoft seem to be wedded to this new system and don’t seem to be interested in reinstalling save and save as on the spreadsheets.

It would be a lot simpler if you could retain the old system of save and save as, but I do not get the impression that Microsoft has any  interest in this whatsoever.

If you are working to a deadline when you encounter this problem for the first time, it can be quite an experience.

It’s clear you are not testing it but instead releasing and making end users suffer and using telemetry to realise you messed up and only then throwing another version at users. Imagine we pay a subscription for O365 and you don’t to QA like you used to in boxed Office 4.3 back in the 90’s

i cannot recommend this app to anyone who uses cloud storage. this app has an auto-save function that cannot be disabled and it has caused me to loose data a number of times by overwriting edits made from other devices. you are much better off just doing nothing on the go and waiting until you can use Excel on your laptop
