Minimalist Password Manager

That’s such an amazing product! I was very disappointed when you removed the one-time payment as I didn’t buy it back then. I'm so glad I haven't deleted the program and noticed your recent update regarding logo change. Anyway, just to make the long story short - I’ve bought the one-time option to support you and eventually migrate from that major competitor to your product.

This was a really promising password manager; but with the switch to a subscription only service, and the fact that it hasn’t been updated in 7 months, I can no longer recommend this app, and I’m honestly wondering if it has become abandonware.

The developers straight up lie and gaslight people by saying “lifetime is and always was a completely unsustainable business model” and yet that’s how software has worked for the majority of its existence. Get Strongbox, has a one-time payment and developers who are sociopathic in their greed, because you should never trust your private information with people who are not honest and won’t let you own the product.

I installed this app on my iPhone and Mac. I was really excited for a real native 1password alternative. I added some logins I routinely use. The auto fill setup was easy, but it simply didn’t fill in safari on the mac or on my iPhone. I sent a video to the developer showing the issue. If the developer fixes it, I’ll change my review but until then I can’t recommend this app.

I think this app is absolutely fantastic and frankly Apple should just buy this company to replace iCloud Keychain and Autofill. If they did this it would strongly reinforce Apple’s branding of being incredibly secure and safe, while also being intuitive and easy to use. In all truthfulness, I can’t use this app simply because it doesn’t work as well for me as keychain or Bitwarden. However, this is not the app’s fault, it is simply just limited by Apple refusing compatibility or allowing third-party password managers to adjust the Autofill capabilities. I think if Apple were able to fix this, or Minimalist found some miracle cure it would be a 6 out of 5 star app and would be better than Bitwarden and Keychain combined. Still, I’ll give it 5 stars since that isn’t the developers fault.

Minimalist was fantastic, and then it just stopped allowing me to edit even though I have a yearly subscription. I’ve followed all of the instructions to restore my purchase, but nothing works and I get a message that the app has logged my issue and will fix in a future release. In the meantime, I’m stuck with passwords that I can’t edit. I also emailed the team and haven’t gotten a response. Love Minimalist’s commitment to privacy, but their lack of support — not so much.

Every other password manager looks like a heaping pile of clutter compared to Minimalist. Just because an app provides an unglamorous function doesn’t mean it can’t have an interface that actually makes you enjoy using it. Oh, and as for functionality? It just… WORKS.

Was a happy user of Minimalist for a year but have now moved on. The bigger company options are either similar priced or cheaper and are open source and have more features. Most importantly, the other options have passed security audits.

This password manager definitely lives up to its name as it is very minimal in looks, but it is also very robust in function. I appreciate that I can use it as an auto fill app without a browser extension. I also appreciate that I can sync via iCloud. I would absolutely recommend this password manager for anybody looking for a new one or even for their first password manager.

Should've bought this app when it was a buy once, oh well at least I still have 1password 7. Goodbye
