Description

The Minimoog Model D App is a software transmutation of the world’s first portable synthesizer, the Minimoog Model D®. Anyone can jump in and play with over 160 included presets or lay fingers to the controls and begin exploring vast magical realms of creative potential for iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and Mac.
The Minimoog Model D App incorporates a number of inspiring sound creation tools and capabilities not present on its analog antecedent. New functions include the ability to play chords with up to four-note polyphony, an easy-to-use arpeggiator for rhythmic pattern creation, a real time looping recorder with unlimited overdubbing capacity, a tempo-synchronizable stereo ping pong delay module, and the Bender -- a wide-range stereo time modulation effect module.
The Minimoog Model D App also supports AUv3 Audio Unit extensions, which allows multiple instances of this powerful instrument to be used simultaneously within compatible iOS apps supporting AUv3.
A BRIEF HISTORY
Introduced by Moog in 1970, the Minimoog Model D served as the archetype for all electronic keyboards that followed. It gave users the ability to design their own sounds, translating imagination into reality. The Minimoog’s portability, affordability and accessibility made it the go-to instrument for musicians looking to expand beyond the traditional sounds of the time. Bernie Worrell used the Minimoog Model D to establish Parliament Funkadelic’s futuristic funk sound. Kraftwerk employed the Minimoog Model D on the successful concept album Autobahn, sparking an entirely new genre. Gary Numan replaced his live band’s guitars with Minimoog Model Ds, creating the prototype for industrial music. The classic sound of the Minimoog Model D can be heard on Bob Marley’s Catch A Fire, Michael Jackson’s Thriller and Dr. Dre’s The Chronic; Detailed in the mini-doc series “A Brief History Of The Minimoog”.

This is one of the best musical apps ever made!!!

So fun

I love this app very much. The one thing I wish it had was the ability to zoom in on areas of the interface. Not easy to see if you have a small screen.

Broken on ios 17.1.2 for ipad

Playing three keys simultaneously causes the sound from the app to get all glitchy. A keyboard app doesn’t really work if it can’t play chords. The app used to be fine.

GREAT APP! Fantastic sounds! But, how do you save presets now the button is gone?

Feature rich, great sound, best with MIDI keyboard

BUG REPORT: shared my favorites folder from my iPhone to my Mac, created a new sound and when I tried to save it into the same folder it copied the parameters from the next preset in the folder instead… annoying! I’ve spent a lot of hours on this app messing around and still haven’t explored everything yet. You have a lot of sonic freedom and the ability to replicate a lot of sounds. The preset packs are fun but are hard to navigate on my iPhone. They allow you to explore a lot of sounds quickly that you can later tune to your liking. I’ve mapped my MIDI keyboard knobs and it works well (but not perfect). Another thing I discovered on YouTube is that you can plug your iPhone or iPad into your Mac and use in Logic as an external midi device, although you have to manually setup every time.

Unique and sounds great

Simply, I come up with stuff on this plug that doesn’t happen otherwise. Game changing.

Angry birds type beat.

Presets???

This is a great app, but one issue I have, and this goes for the model 15 as well… whoever was in charge of developing the presets, their version of a “lead” preset is questionable. None of them sustain well at all, and they sound like they’re out of tune because of how the set the oscillators on some of them And they even had the nerve to include several with the decay switch turned off and the envelope attacks halfway. You have to hold each not for eternity until it reaches volume, and then the moment you release it just does. Now, who in their right mind plays like that and would actually use such a setting? Those that do need their synth operator’s license revoked, or something That’s the only real complaint I have. I especially hate the envelope function on any synthesizer, as I find it to be a useless feature that only causes volume and sustain issues. I have yet to find it useful. So naturally, I find plucks and envelope heavy settings to be a nuisance than a an effective tool But yeah, a well-defined lead that has an easily adjustable sustain would be nice to include

This app has been the most fun to use with my midi keyboard hook up. All the classic sounds are there, and I’m loving the new modules. Great templates for tweaking and coming up with new stuff. Thanks for this. Hoping one day the sub 37 will be an app. Or maybe cross track the modules from other moog apps for this one.

Very good

Very good app but recently there have been this saw wave sounding overdub sound. I don’t know what’s happening but other than that good app
