How much does MocapX cost?
MocapX has several in-app purchases/subscriptions, the average in-app price is €162.33.
I initially left a really harsh review because of all my problems installing, and I had immediate problems with head rotation and jittery playback during the live sessions, the characters head looked erratic and it was slumped over. But the company got back to me and has been addressing my problems. They aren’t all solved yet, and they really need to sit down with a newbie during the installation process and seeing all the problems someone could run into, because I have already lostA full day to the software. But there are a lot of niceties as well, and I’ll be sure to update my review as I get things going, so for now four stars, mostly because I’m optimistic, not because it truly works well yet. And I have appreciated the personal attention on solving my problems
An app I use daily!
I’ve been searching for a faster way to do facial animations in Maya. I don’t have the budget to get the professional equipment for thousands of dollars. This app really brings the best out of what I have now. The mocap results are great, but it can be confusing at first.
Professional animators delight
Great app! Seamlessly integrate into maya. I’m a novice so I really enjoyed the tutorials. Definitely a great find!
Saves so much time!
MocapX makes my life so much easier. When animating characters in Maya, I would constantly have to reupload my design and test with each new take. Now with MocapX, I can just see the mocap results in real-time using Maya. It's definitely worth the cost.
Amazing app for developers
It works great both for local recording and real-time streaming. The plugin with live mocap data is a huge time saver and works great over wifi. It takes some time to set up the poses, but after that, it's great. If you're a character animator and you use Maya, this is the tool for you.
Good tool for Mocap
The only tool I could find with real-time mocap for Maya. It really saves a lot of time.
Fills the FaceAR gap!!!
I’ve been using FaceAR in Unreal and Unity for the past few years. It always took so much time to export then test in the engine. Now with MocapX I can test directly in Maya and not waste time exporting and always reconnecting the phone.
I know it’s kinda a bummer you cant test what your phone in real time with the app but it works just like it does in Unreal. I say Unreal and not Unity because I find Unity’s playback a little slow.
Also, I’ve been in constant feedback with the devs. Their support is awesome. I really can’t ask for more from this product.
Worthless as a free app
Why even put it in the App Store for free if you can’t do anything with the free version? Don’t download this! You can’t do anything except record 30 seconds on the phone. And not 30 seconds per recording. 30 seconds total. Then you are forced to buy more time, and it is expensive! What a joke.
Not “free,” and no trial version
I was exploring this as a possible purchase for my company. Trial versions are an industry norm so that people can verify functionality and reliability.
Free to Download, $299 to Unlock ONLY Feature
Talk about a scam app. No demo of the feature just a button to buy and that’s it. I thought the App Store review process was better than this.
