## Model Colors Description
Model Colors is an application for helping you keep track of your hobby model colors and projects. Have you ever ended up buying the wrong colors because you didn’t remember the exact code of the color you needed or forgot to get that pesky Dunkelgelb that you needed to finish that glorious tank you’re working on? If so, then Model Colors helps you keep track of the colors that you own and the colors that you need to buy. The application contains lists of all colors from a set of brands and you can browse these lists and mark the ones you already own and the ones you need to buy. Currently the app has over 40000 colors included from most big and many small manufacturers.

The lists of your own colors and colors that you need to buy can be easily shared via mail, iMessage etc.

If you mainly use some particular color types or individual colors you can set them as favorites and easily access them from the main menu. 

You can check for colors that are similar to a certain color either via color standards like FS, RAL, RLM etc, or via industry standard CIE deltaE 2000 calculations.

Various colors can also be grouped together for quick access into custom color lists.  You can keep the colors you normally use for US airplanes in one list and colors you use for fantasy miniatures in another, making them easy to find.

You can also add the models that you are working on or plan to build in the future. For each model you can register the colors that are required and make sure that you don't forget to buy any essential colors. Each model can have a photos associated with it as well as notes. Using the notes and photos it is easy to keep a build diary or just keep track of things that you need to do at some point.

Model Colors requires iCloud and iCloud Drive to be enabled for the app to work. iCloud Drive is used to save photos and documents for our models.

Model Colors uses a subscription in order to support the application development. There's a trial period that lets you test the app fully without having to subscribe.

### ***** "Great Hobby Paint Inventory System"
Probably like most modelers, over time I’ve accumulated a good bit of paints from several different manufacturers.  So when I’m planning a new build and trying to see if I have the correct paints, I don’t have to go through a couple hundred bottles searching to see if I have it. I can simply “search” my stash electronically on this app.  It is WELL WORTH the very small fee!   Highly recommended!

This app seemed amazing at first, until I opened it and can’t see anything I entered without subscribing. I get that this is a world revolving around subscriptions but there was no indication I would be 100% blocked from seeing what I had entered. I liked the app and would have subscribed but the way they demanded the subscription left a bad taste in my mouth. I’ll find another app to subscribe to.

There are a lot of tools on my workbench. All the tools are useful, but not necessary. I have a lot of different art & hobby paints on my workbench. When I need to know what colors I’ll need for my next project Model Colors is my go to. So it is a useful tool, however it is a necessary tool.

I remember this being a good app when I tried it a few years ago.  Now it has an immediate ‘subscribe ($$/month) or quit’ message even though the description still says it takes ‘donations’.  I understand the author needs to make money and (presumably) spends time updating the paint lists, etc. but I personally HATE subscription apps (or any sort of ‘evergreen’ payment) and will only use one if there is no other choice AND there is a solid reason it has to be a subscription.  For this kind of app, I’d be happy buying a new version every few years but not a subscription.

### **--- "Great app, worth using but now requires subscription"
I understand that you need to make money for hard work and time, but to not use the app for an extended period and come back to it and have a message telling me I need to subscribe to the application or delete my information off of it. That’s pretty crummy. I used the app to help keep track of colors and model colors and I put a lot of time into it, I put time into writing some mixes and colors and now that’s all gone. What’s the point of subscribing now if everything is deleted. 

There should atleast be a “free with ads” model of the application and the paid “ad-feee” version. 

It’s a good app, don’t get me wrong, but I will not be partaking in the application at this moment. I’m very disappointed and discouraged. There at-least could have been an update warning or a notification of change. I understand that the owner can change and charge at will, but for the courtesy it would have been nice.

Give this app a try. It’s pack full of features beyond just tracking your paints.  Track your builds. Get alternatives to your paints.  It does a lot.

### *---- "Broke the trust"
I had all my colors in this app a couple of years ago. Never uninstalled it. Had to take a break from modeling and open the app. It says too old and to upgrade. Ok sure. 

All the data and information for hundreds of paints all gone. I don’t know why or how but it appears around version 3. I guess they made such an overhaul that the data got lost? 

Whatever the reason I can’t trust the app to not do this again at some random point in the future. To force an update and in the process not import my existing data… nope. Not going to give you a second shot at storing my data. Trust is gone and once gone it’s almost impossible to reclaim … much like my data.
