Description

EMA Add-On is a companion application to EMA by Modernizing Medicine. It provides our Users with additional functionality that is sometimes necessary for proper usage.

Please note that EMA can only be used in conjunction with a subscription-based Web Application Service. Modernizing Medicine introduces the first native iPad application designed for medical surgical specialities — EMA by Modernizing medicine for iPad. Each relevant part of the visit can be recorded in real time by the patients in the waiting room and by the medical assistants, physician extenders, or physicians in the exam room. At the end of each patient visit, data is transmitted back to the server automating documentation without costing the doctor a second.

Excellent software for Ophthalmology

Rock it math on

Our practice has tried 4 different EMRs over the past 9 years. We last had NextGen, which was very time consuming. It would be great for an accountant, because it was like staring at an Excel spreadsheet for each patient visit. Our revenue increased notably after switching back to ModMed, as the coding functions were more robust, and accurate. I used to have two scribes, running two rooms. With the Covid-relate staffing shortage, we lost quite a few scribes and I have been self-scribing 80% of the time for the past six months. I could not have done this accurately with NextGen. There are some mild bugs, and development can take some time, but there aren’t any better ophtho EMRs that I have used/tested.

No EMR is perfect but this is surprisingly good

drbpconn on

This lends itself well to efficient and quality documentation. If they had a better PACS (picture archive and communication system) for image review it would be a 5 star. As with anything, the more time you spend familiarizing yourself with the software the better it will work for you.

Lackluster EMR

texan76401 on

Usability features on the iPad is handy, however finding an ICD 10 diagnosis code can sometimes be very difficult and time consuming. I often spend an extra five minutes on about 25% of my clinic visit notes just trying to find the correct diagnosis code for common issues seen in an orthopedics outpatient clinic. This has been very frustrating! I haven’t had this issue with other EMR’s such as Athena, Centricity, or Epic. I honestly think it’s because this EMR was originally developed for a dermatology practice. Also, I didn’t realize until after we purchased this system that there are extra costs of certain features that other EMR’s provide as part of the basic package fee. We are constantly having to scan in image reports and lab results rather than it coming into an in-basket for physician review. So, unfortunately, I am not notified by the EMR when the results of my orders are back. As you might imagine, this opens the door to future lawsuits if there is an unexpected critical lab or radiological image finding you don’t know has resulted for a week or even a month since these are sometimes ordered at outside facilities and don’t know when the patient has been scheduled for the test. Finally, the most infuriating thing is that my dictation within the Impression and Plan section will sometimes not save. This only happens about 15% of the time after I’m about to finalize and sign my note which you can imagine is a huge letdown. So, I end up coping every dictation even before I hit save so that I can then go back and paste back in the Impression and Plan section if or when it doesn’t save. There have been a few of these instances where I will have to repeat this entire process three times before the system will actually save what I dictated. I have never, ever encountered this before in any other EMR system I used during clinical rotations in medical school, residency, or fellowship training. You should never have to doubt your EMR and be concerned about this ever happening. When I contact support, all they can tell me is that they have to witness it happening in order to figure out to fix it. So, to me this is an unrealistic request bc I often close my notes after hours at home in the evenings or weekends or am trying to close them as quickly as I can while keeping up with a very busy schedule during the day so I can spend more time with my wife and 3 kids on the weekend. Lost time is essentially lost money. I believe there is some

Listen to the reviews! Don’t do it!

Terrible EMR and EVERYTHING takes longer to do.

You better know what you’re getting into

nwent2021 on

Great sales pitch. Soon as you sign up be ready for absolutely no support, no training, no help. The people assigned as your contacts are a joke. They don’t return calls or emails. They have hidden costs, like faxing for instance. They charge you PER PAGE so be ready for an astronomically high bill for faxing. System has some nice features for billing, but it also makes some simple billing tasks (that were simple in our former system) into complex monstrosities that require a call to support every time. Just wait and see. Absolutely awful company and wouldn’t recommend to anyone! Buyer beware.

Worst EMR

Saddd!!! on

Terrible. I neatly have such a hard time coming up with a positive thing to say. I was bamboozled during the demos sad they had certain things and they do not. The slowness of the app omg. Then call it diagnosis plan why impression think you are slick that is just dumb! Reporting I do not feel confident is correct. The 101 things to an EMR are not there. Practice management is lacking serious functionality. I have tried to get things relived have I ever been contacted nobly a manager or higher up NOPE they don’t care. Caution look at something else. I would like to turn it off and go back to my other crappy EMR that is better than this. Very very dissatisfied

One of the worst EMRs out there

Intertrigo on

And I’ve used a lot of them. The note output is pretty bad. If I work around the program I can get a decent note, but I shouldn’t have to work against the program, it should be working for me. Prescription refills are a joke, usually it’s just faster to input a new one. Using the “follow up” function in the CC is full of stuff from even earlier visits that no longer applies. I would like to see prior rx’s pulled into the chart so they can easily be refilled, here no chance. The Dxs are completely jumbled, not even in alphabetical order, and contain tons of junk not even pertinent to my specialty. The plans are just as jumbled. I recommend passing on this EMR completely.
