Description

Researchers at Monash University have developed the low FODMAP diet and a corresponding app to assist in the management of gastrointestinal symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The Monash University FODMAP diet works by swapping foods high in fermentable carbohydrates (FODMAPs), with low FODMAP alternatives. Around 75% of people with IBS experience symptom relief on a low FODMAP diet.

The app comes directly from the research team at Monash and includes the following:

- General information about the FODMAP diet and IBS.
- Easy to understand tutorials to guide you through the app and the 3-Step FODMAP diet.
- A Food Guide detailing the FODMAP content for hundreds of foods using a simple 'traffic light system'.
- A list of branded products that have been certified by Monash as low FODMAP.
- A collection of over 70 nutritious, low FODMAP recipes.
- Functions that allow you to create your own shopping list and add notes to individual foods
- A Diary that enables you to record food eaten, IBS symptoms, bowel habits and stress levels. The Diary will also guide you through step 2 of the diet - FODMAP reintroduction.
- The ability to adjust units of measurement (metric or imperial) and activate colour blindness assistance.

Disappointing

Remmy70 on

My expectations were high as you have to pay EUR 8,99 for this app. Was a bit disappointed: the UX is terrible, comes over as very amateurish, I think with a little bit of effort and someone experienced in building iOS apps this could be fixed easily. Then on to the content: disappointed as well, I don’t know which countries this app focuses on, but there’s some very common foods missing. I thought you could browse through a whole list of products from my country (NL), but soon stopped using the app because I could barely find any. The idea is good, the implementation leaves much to be desired for. Fill your database, that’s the power behind apps like these. Wouldn’t recommend, you can get the information that’s in the app for free elsewhere on the internet.

Needs more UX

I mean i get it its informative but its a 12 euro app, how about hiring a UX designer ?

Makes life with IBS a lot easier

nicolai2021 on

This app helps me a lot in determining which food is good or bad for me. It’s definitely worth the price. There are some negative reviews here about technical issues which I honestly don’t recognise. I’ve never had problems. If you have IBS, I’d surely recommend this.

Doesn't work properly

noxyploxy on

It is a good app. But it has annoying bugs. Like app closing out of a sudden en not being able to use the search tool. I have already had several times in need when i couldn't get the information at a crucial moment like in the supermarket. This while I paid for this app

Searching does not work (anymore?)

Barbararin on

A very good app. I use it very often but. i installed the iPad version today and I have to scroll through the lists (and those are long, that's good) in order to find a product or food. When I search, there are no (not one!) items listed. Nor apple, nor broccoli, nor bread. On the iPhone it works perfectly. Five stars for the phone, two for the tablet.

Delen met gezin kan niet!!

x-José-x on

So mad!

serious IBS on

I am so mad I could scream! I downloaded the app and I got stuck with the GERMAN VERSION!! AAAAAAARGH !!!

Happy but...

Dutchie849202 on

Really glad that this app is showing the newest information about fodmaps (more up to date then my dietist). It’s worth the money! One point of feedback: some products from my country (the Netherlands) are tested, such as muesli, some sort of cookies, etc. but I don’t know which brand it is... so I can’t buy it because I’m not sure if it’s the same sort of cookie/muesli, etc. and if it has the same amounts as the tested product.

Handig

Marijke J R on
