monkii FAQ
Is monkii free?
Yes, monkii is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is monkii legit?
🤔 The monkii app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
Congrats monkiis for this new version! Liked very much the easier segmentation, the medals when we complete an activity and the favorite feature... well done!
If I may, a feel suggestion for next versions:
A) include a timer for intervals between series
B) create an user log of trainings... I easily get lost between all the infinite options
C) it would be a masterpiece if we also include an algorithm that suggests me what training I should do, based on previous choices
All the best, monkiis!
Good Content, Clunky Implementation
Good videos, good sets of exercises, but the way it’s organized feels like it was designed years ago and never updated (which is true). Passwords for specific content feels like not the best way to provide access because there are weird partitions in the content that make no sense if you’ve bought the tools. And my biggest, basic gripe: that you need to turn the silent switch off (ringer on) for the sound to work. And even then, sometimes the sound doesn’t work — on my iPad, if I turn off the silent mode, the video sound works AND the timer clicks and “rest” sounds work, but for some reason on my iPhone if I turn on the ringer switch, the video sound works but I don’t get those same in-workout timer clicks and “rest” sound effects. Just weird bugs associated with sound which kind of feels like the very most basic thing for an iPhone app in 2023. I would delete the app and redownload to see if that fixes it, but I’m worried I’d just lose all my random program passwords I’ve put in, which are not recorded anywhere in one place. iCloud sync between iPhone and iPad would be great too so that completed workouts are consistent across devices.
Good app
This is a good app. Some things I would like to see in the future:
1: Modified exercises for those with injury or slower to progress.
2: Tracking
That’s all. Other than that, the variety is great. I love the challenges as well.
Sound problems?
I am watching stoic videos and not getting any sound from them
11 months and no update..
This app is getting long in the tooth. I’ve had it since the monkii bars 2, and apart from adding the new devices it hasn’t changed much.
My big gripes are the lack of tracking:
- no way to track progress
- no history
- no calendar to see what workouts have been done or gaps between workouts, etc
Some tracking features are long overdue as well as resolving some of the bugs of videos freezing. This app was probably a 4-star app hen this app came out 4 years ago, even if it was basic. But come on, 11 months now with no update at all and no major update for way longer than that. Monkii is still putting out new products and forgetting about their app, which is (at least for me) a big part of the ecosystem.
Also, the program feature is great but some exercises introduced are WAY too hard for the given level. Currently users have to adapt the program to themselves by just not finishing the workout rather than the workout building them up with reasonable progressions.
2 stars as it’s not useless or buggy, it’s just old and lacking.
Great but could use more modification tips
I really enjoy the Monkii app! The videos are helpful for learning techniques and the workouts definitely get you sweating. I especially liked the 21 Day Monkey Challenge.
What I wish it had though was more suggested modifications if certain exercises are too challenging as a newbie. There is a pretty big jump in reps for exercises from the 21 Day Challenge to the 14 Day commitment, plus an increase in difficulty of certain moves (like plyo-Bulgarian squats after doing 45 jump squats). That’s my only real criticism: having more middle ground after the beginner course.
Good start, needs work.
First, a minor complaint: I need to enter the password for the Isocore content every single time I want to use it. Maybe there’s a trick I haven’t found yet, but if not please make it so the app saves this password, at least for 30 days at a time or so.
Second, it would be very helpful to have a written explanation & tips with each exercise to help prevent incorrect form. A picture indicating which muscle(s) the exercise is supposed to target would also be super useful, especially for those of us who are new to this kind of training.
Other than that, the app seems to be stable and work as expected. I look forward to future developments.
App/Workout Is Great But...
It would be great to receive more guidance within the app as to whether you should be facing the door, back to the door, perpendicular, etc. Usually it's obvious but with some exercises it's super hard to tell.
Good app, but could be better
Got this app to use with my monkii 360. Awesome product and great exercises. My main complaint comes from needing audio cues when timed exercises or rests are done. Hard to look at the phone screen all the time. They say it's coming though. After that improvement I won't really have any complaints. Great companion to the monkii 360.
Quiet
There is no sound with the app nothing to tell you audibly to change motions/rest. Bring on the timer sounds!
