Description

mood.camera is a point-and-shoot camera that captures natural photos full of character, straight out of your iPhone. Instead of chasing ever-sharper and perfectly exposed images, mood.camera focuses on making photography fun and giving your photographs soul.
The custom image processing pipeline gives you photos with realistic film grain, subtle analog characteristics and a rich colour palette. mood.camera also has no live "filter" preview or editing tools within the app, encouraging you to enjoy taking photos without worrying about flipping between effects or making the perfect edit.
mood.camera wasn't built to evoke nostalgia, it was built to bring character and serendipity back to the mobile photography experience.

“The authenticity of the format emulations are top notch. Not being able to upload pictures really challenges me to be a better photographer and think about the shot before I take it, instead of just shooting away on my camera app normally.” - Joaquin Cavazos, director of photography.

TRY FOR 7 DAYS FREE
Please note, mood.camera is not free. We offer a 7-day unrestricted free trial for new users, no subscription required. After your trial you can continue to use the app for free but you will be limited to the “random” emulation mode. To continue using the full version of the app after your trial period you can either purchase a lifetime membership or pay a monthly subscription.
EXPRESSIVE COLOUR EMULATION
Each of the 14 colour emulations have been meticulously crafted to give every photo character and a rich colour palette.
REALISTIC FILM GRAIN
Film grain algorithms modelled on the physical development process, add texture and physicality to your photos whilst retaining detail.
NEXT LEVEL PORTRAITS
Combined with mood.camera's filmic characteristics, portrait mode gives you photos with smoother object separation and convincing bokeh. (Available on iPhone 11 or newer).
ANALOG CHARACTER
Chromatic aberration, halation and bloom, inject another layer of depth to your pictures.
LESS TWEAKING, MORE SNAPPING
Mirroring the classic film camera experience, there is no live preview of your selected film, letting you focus on capturing the moment instead of flipping between filters. After each capture, the element of suspense as you reveal the processed photo is another nod to the analog experience.
INTUITIVE CONTROLS FOR CREATIVITY
At its core, mood.camera is designed to echo the ease of use of a point-and-shoot camera but retains some controls to inspire creativity and personal expression:
- Adjust the grain and tone for each film emulation to match your style.
- Set the default focal lengths for each lens, giving you quick access to your favourites.
- An on-screen exposure dial, makes it easy to achieve different styles with under and over exposed images.
- Select from multiple aspect ratios to suit the scene.
- An optional grid & level indicator gives you confidence when composing.
- High resolution 24MP photos on compatible devices. (Available on iPhone 14 Pro, 15 Pro & 16 Pro).
- Customise the dynamic range of your camera. (Available on iPhones capable of ProRaw capture).
BUILT FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS
Since the first version, mood.camera has been guided from feedback by an engaged community of photographers, with over half a million photos taken so far.

“Mood has filled the biggest hole in my photography life, which is spur of the moment, day to day scenes when I shouldn’t even be thinking of taking photos. Even with my “real” camera at home, Mood allows me to capture the little moments with nothing but my phone and some inspiration.“ - Cole, photographer.

Brings Fun Back to Photo Taking

BranaSmurf on

United States

I have been messing with the mood app the last few weeks while on vacation in Europe. It has been fun and very useful to get very appealing, analog, creative shots while walking about. Really tons of fun. The plus is you don’t have to give up your Full Size Image as there is a setting when to take pictures to have both a Mood one saved and an original photo without the filter applied. Very handy so you don’t need to make a choice on a moment or a shot and have it only go one way which may or may not work out. I still have to dig deeper, and these options may exist already, but my only asks are to make sure the original photo being saved is in RAW Max format as an option (it just says original now) and that you could apply the filters to any photos after the fact. That would open up endless possibilities but I also understand it’s all about the moment. Great fun, thank you for creating the app!

Live preview, please

I like some of the filter results, but can't endure the presumptuousness of the UI. Oh, no live preview because seeing what I'm doing "gOeS aGaInSt tHe SpIrIt" of the app? Maybe the spirit of the app should change to letting me take cool photos how I want to? I really wanted to one time buy this, but not while the viewfinder is literally broken. Live preview or bye.

My go to vintage camera app!

I love vintage camera apps, I’ve tried a bunch over the years. Some are really great others not so much. Mood is a great app in that regards, as it produces realistic looking vintage pics, and gives some manual control. The provided filters can be tweaked as needed, and that is really cool. I do wish however that it gave the option to import pics and apply filters. And also that it saved a copy of a pic with and without filter. Otherwise it’s a great app, with easy and quick controls. Highly recommended to anyone with a tooth for vintage photography!

Magnificent

I was a beta tester for this app, and the official release is magnificent. It's just really easy to use, polished, and doesn't do all the over-sharpening found in the stock camera app. I think the developer nailed the one-time price option along with the subscription model as well. This is definitely a worth-while camera app for creatives or even just people that want to tinker.

Just what I was looking for

Pegasus912 on

I’ve been very happy with this camera app, it’s probably the best I’ve used. It does still tend to overexpose, or rather expose to evenly and lifts the shadows too much but exposure compensation works fine and fixes the issue. Great film sims and it even offers an X-pan aspect ratio! The Vista film sim is perfection.

Best Camera App on the App Store

Ben Kenon on

United States

I’ve been beta testing this app since the dev posted about it on Reddit. When I saw it was out of beta I did not hesitate to pay the $14 for lifetime access. This is the camera app I’ve been waiting for someone to make for a decade, and the amount of care and attention put into this app is impressive. Let’s support great developers who don’t require subscriptions!!!

Pretty cool app.

The design of the app is nice and pretty simple to use. The film emulation is pretty. The only issue Iv been having is the colors seem to be very inconsistent especially with skin tones. Even though the developer likes the idea of taking the picture and then seeing the film process after the fact. I think there should be a toggle that allows users to see a live version of the film if they want to that way they can get an idea how the colors would look for skin tones. Another good addition to the app would be being able to mirror the front camera images instead of having to edit the photo to flip the image just have a toggle in the settings to mirror the picture. A lot of people would really love the live film emulation to be seen. Hope you give it some thought. This app is beautiful.

Incredible app

This app is so well thought out and easy to use. I absolutely love the results.

Things have changed

Tater930 on

United States

I’ve been using the app for several months when it was still in beta. Love all the filter options and just the general UI is nice. With a recent update I can no longer use it unless I pay minus the random selection of who knows what filter. I understand getting a income as a app developer but to change it to make it almost completely unusable just isn’t right. Wish the dev the best of luck for the future of this app.

Easily one of my favorite “in-camera” apps.
