Minimizing the app or opening another app to hide the screen stop the recording. This makes it obvious to everyone that the camera is on and recording. It also wastes battery life. You can even select area of sensitivity range within the view of the picture area. you can select how long the video recording runs after motion is stopped . I had to stabilize my bird feeder so that only bird motion is captured otherwise it would keep rocking. you will need camera support to hold your camera solid still to the framing of the subject area while you are not there.
