Beyond the Guidebook: The Definitive Rock Climbing Resource.
• Find outdoor climbing areas near you, and navigate to them, using the map. This super-handy new feature is one of our personal faves.
• The much requested route finder: Easily sort routes by discipline, difficulty, star ranking and more. If a 4-star M9 is your thing, we'll help you find it.
• Search our entire database of 155,000+ climbing routes, even offline.
• Download route beta, photos, and topos state by state for offline use — because the best crags often have the worst reception.
• View a climbing area’s route stats (how many 5.11s are there?) and critical info (when is the raptor closure again?) in a single glance.
• Chat, ask questions, or put out a call for partners in our forum.
• Rate routes and photos, keep track of attempts & sends, or make a to-do list
• It's free to download and free of advertising too. Everything you need, nothing you don't.

Mountain Project FAQ
Is Mountain Project free?
Yes, Mountain Project is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Mountain Project legit?
🤔 The Mountain Project app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
Mountain project is the go to for every climber for a reason, if you are looking for climbing spots or tips before a climb this is the stop, wether you are a trad, sport, boulder, ice or alpine climber they have it all, very intuitive but I do wish it had more support so that climbs where easier to find in difficult places and backcountry. (I would like the ability to add climbing spots because I do have several climbs in Yosemite me and some friends founded)
New OnX integration might make me delete the app
I can’t even use this stupid app anymore
Best app for climbers
Absolutely worth having
Game Changer
As a novice climber getting into the sport, this app has opened up a world of challenge and possibility. I am so incredibly grateful for the folks that have taken the time to post the routes and provide their experience to share their adventures and call out others into the wilderness with them. 🤙🏻 Thanks my people!
My favorite
Love it! Still trying to figure out how to upload pictures tho
search function non functional
boo
Mountain Project
This app is fantastic!! It picks up where guidebooks leave off/leave out. I can’t believe how many “new,” “undiscovered” locales and routes are here. As someone from Cali, it does an amazing job at glossing over what physical guidebooks give, and fills in much needed gaps beyond the guidebooks. It is now my “go to” for all things climbing and it has inspired me to get out more…not that I needed another reason.
Map doesn’t work!!
The map has stopped showing all the crag. What’s going on?
Mussy hooks
The gates for the Mussy hooks are super old and do not close.
All Trails for Climbing
Great app for climbers! I recently started going outdoor and this community is extremely helpful.
There are a ton of routes and boulders I didn’t even know of until now.
I do wish you could add friends to the app so you can share ideas with each other.
