Having never taken the LIRR, and coming from a city that doesn’t have mass transit, I walked on and realized I should have bought a ticket. But I didn’t because there were no turnstiles. I hastily searched for the app, found it, downloaded it, created an account, found my train, and paid in the span of about 2 minutes as I sat in my seat.
Bravo UX team. Bravo.

Better
I’m glad the app distinguishes what kind of ticket to buy depending on peak v. non peak, holidays and weekends, etc. much easier to use especially when in a rush. Thank you!
Has to be one of the best commuter apps out there.
Admittedly when I first realized I had to download an app for my daily commute (you can still use paper tickets if you want) I was skeptical at best. So used to buggy budget apps that crash, are slow, poorly thought out etc. It’s honestly amazing. Super reliable, incredibly quick and easy Apple Pay integration for getting all types of tickets including monthly passes. Really accurate tracking of trains and route planning. Hats off to the app creators, I’m not sure I recall ever taking the time to write a review, positive or negative!
Congestion Pricing Now
This app is great but would be a lot better if there was congestion pricing in the city!
Great App!
All apps should be this good. Every feature you could ask for.
App malfunctions
I purchased round trip tickets for my trip to Fire island. After a week there one of the tickets activated itself without any type of prompt. In fact the phone was sitting in a room on a table with no one around, then all of a sudden notification came up that one of the tickets was activated. I then signed out of the app to avoid the same happening to the second ticket, but when I was ready to travel and logged back in, there were no tickets at all showing in the app. Awful! I wasted 30 bucks thanks to the app. Will never buy tickets ahead of time again
Simplistic would’ve worked too
Too much going on! I need an old print out schedule
Grand Central
You should offer a map of the station so a person can figure out where their track is (upper or lower level) before they get there.
Scams
What a joke to charge more for peak hours? Guess we see how pious and arrogant corporations are!
