Description

This is the successor the the popular, award-winning, best selling, doctor recommended pain tracking app, My Pain Diary: Chronic Pain & Symptom Tracker.

This version, My Pain Diary: GOLD EDITION, strikes a delicate balance between ease-of-use and a broad feature-set. This is a truly USEFUL app, and the newest member of the My Pain Diary family, which has helped over 90,000 chronic pain sufferers better manage their pain, improve communication with their doctors, and gain insights that would be hard attain through other means.

Useful and popular features include automatic weather fetching, iCloud sync, basic medication tracking, photo attachments, graphs and PDF doctor's reports.

This app is highly customizable. Everyone tracks pain differently, and this is a framework that supports just about any tracking strategy.

Created by a chronic pain patient to track, manage, and report on chronic pain and symptoms, chronic illness, and mental health.

That means there is no big company with deep pockets supporting this project. I am just one man with a chronic pain condition, a demanding day job, and a young family to care for. I just happen to be formally trained in design, self-taught in programming, experienced at marketing and customer relations, and am a chronic pain patient myself. That's a very rare combination of traits that is hard to come by, so I'm making the most of it, and holding my own against the big players.

Enough about me, back to the app!

Features:
+ iCloud Sync Support
+ Universal App
+ Highly Customizable
+ Easy to use
+ Track unlimited conditions
+ Track multiple/unlimited times per day

ANATOMY OF A PAIN DIARY ENTRY

TRACKERS: Trackers can be thought of as labels or folders that categorize and differentiate your entries. These are the key to tracking more than one condition and comparing conditions to each other.

A common strategy is to name the Trackers after the diseases/conditions that you will be tracking. I.e. Migraines, Anxiety, Fibromyalgia, etc. These are just examples.

METRICS: Each entry is composed of one or more optional pieces of information called 'Metrics'. For example, two commonly used metrics are 'Pain Intensity' and 'Pain Duration'. Metrics are associated with and shared amongst your Trackers. This means that you can set it up to use different metrics for different Trackers, keeping your entry pages clean and the cognitive load low.

Won’t fetch weather data

Noodlehoss on

I bought the app under the impression that it would automatically download current weather conditions as I created the journal entries. Disappointingly, that feature doesn’t work on my iPhone or iPad. All settings for this are turned on. I emailed the developer for support twice, with no response. Otherwise it seems like a very thorough and capable app. I only wish it worked as advertised.

I see potential

YoDMar11 on

I do like this app for recording my illnesses but It kicks me out quite often. I don’t have a good short term memory so remembering to try to log my symptoms later, when the app corporates, usually doesn’t happen. I have tried to contact the creator of this app a few times with no reply. I got this app to simplify my tracking, but it has just complicated it instead.

Frustrating tool

KTPM73 on

This app worked great - once. I was able to customize it and make entries immediately after purchasing. Attempted to add new entries a couple of days later and app would immediately close each time I tried adding data. Uninstalled and reinstalled and problem continued. This could be a great tool but what a waste of $ I feel it is after these odd problems.

This app crashes constantly

Bob Palendrome on

This app crashes constantly, and I want a refund. Don’t waste your money.

Was awesome

KeahiMalia on

This app was perfect and great to customize, but the developer has abandoned it and it hasn’t been updated in several years, so it crashes whenever you try to enter something; it does still work if you’re patient enough to restart your phone every time. I also got no help from Apple, who still happily charges for an app that entirely work.

Unusable

JennieJenJenn on

App crashes every time I try to log something. I never buy apps, and the one time I did it’s actually unusable

Waste of money. I want a refund.

Pain diary on

When I try to add a pain entry it closes to the home screen. If I try to click on a pre made pain condition, it closes to home screen. Useless. I want my money back.

Pretty bad

Dizzletron9000 on

Sorry but this app does not deserve a $5 price tag. Major bugs including frequent crashing when trying to use fundamental features, the ‘report’ feature is close to useless. No thanks

Great app if it still worked

Gumdrop79 on

This was an incredibly good app for tracking multiple medical conditions. Simple but thorough, detailed. Unfortunately, it crashes all the time now. From the update history, it seems the developer is no longer interested in keeping it up. Shame it really was a good app.

Can’t open app after purchase

Suncasa on

I purchased this app and it will not open on my iPhone 13. It must need an update of some kind. Seeking a refund. I used the free version for years but that one is not opening either. Such a disappointment. I had years of entries i it. Please update this app so that it works on the current iPhone model. It’s a wonderful app when it works. Thank you.
