Sunrise. Sunset. Sometimes the sky lights up with amazing color, other times.. not so much. MySunset provides a sunrise, sunset, and golden hour forecast for the next 6 days as well as notifications for great forecasts. Don’t miss the next great sunset!
There are two ways to view sunrise/sunset data:
1 - An interactive map with an overlay showing the forecasted quality of upcoming sunrises and sunsets. By default, your current location is shown on the map. On this screen, you can toggle between sunrise and sunset, change the date, move the map around, and zoom in and out of the map.
2 - The second screen is a table showing a list of custom locations. Each location displays a forecast percentage, a corresponding color representing the quality of the sunrise/sunset, the time of the sunrise/sunset, and an icon representing the weather forecast. Tapping on a date will reveal additional weather information (% cloud cover, % chance of precipitation, wind speed, and temperature). This allows you to see if a sunset will be poor due to too much cloud cover or too little cloud cover.
Tap on a day to view weather data for that sunrise/sunset. Even if the sunrise/sunset isn't great, this data is meant to assist in accomplishing your unique artistic goals.
Current location:
- % cloud cover, including cloud levels (low, mid, high)
- % chance of precipitation
- Humidity
- Wind speed
- Temperature
50 km (30 miles) East/West:
- % cloud cover
- % chance of precipitation
150 km (90 miles) East/West:
- % cloud cover
- % chance of precipitation
Tap the three dots to open more options:
- "View on Map" will open the location on the Map screen
- "Configure Alerts" allows you to receive push notifications when an upcoming sunrise or sunset is predicted to be colorful. In-app purchase required.
** A Pro subscription is required for notifications. Yearly and monthly subscriptions are available. Payment will be charged to your Apple ID Account at the confirmation of purchase. Subscription automatically renews unless it is canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel your subscriptions by going to your account settings on the App Store after purchase.

Hi Emily, multiple people on here have been complaining about the add location feature not working. I don’t see a follow up or response to any of them. When is this going to be fixed? I paid for the pro version and it isn’t a friendly experience. Feedback requested.
Cool but only current location works
Really cool but I can’t seem to add any locations. I’ll type something in and locations will pop up as I type but when I click on one nothing happens and it still only shows my current location. It’s frustrating because I’d like to use this to plan a trip.
App been malfunctioning for months - pro version
Bought the pro version because I thought it would improve performance. Basically can only see “my location” and no other locations. I’ve deleted app and re-installed it. No performance improvements. Sorry I spent the $ on it. Disappointed because when it works, it’s great.
App is useless since new update
Can’t add additional locations anymore. Only shows current location.
Just wow
When I first came across this app, I looked at it as a backup or confirmation to TPE and considered it to be more as a curiosity than a serious app. When TPE began to give me spotty results this year I decided to give MySunset a second look. All I can say I I wish I had done so much earlier. I live in the DC area and it’s batted 1.000 for me this year. It’s been so good, I’ve traveled as far as Gettysburg or Fredericksburg (70 or so miles) based on its predictions (80% or higher) and I’m 1000% satisfied with the results. It has been simply outstanding!
The map is buggy and inconsistent and the colors change when you zoom in and out. (I have no idea…) Yes, highly irritating but I’ve learned to ignore it completely when I realized how good the tabulated data are.
If you’re into sunrises and sunsets I can’t recommend this app enough. Wish I could post photos. Give it a try!
Problem with ads
There are problems with the way the ads display. I get the same banner ad displayed 10 times in a row on my screen, to the point where I can’t even see the location information. Also, sunset prediction is accurate about 50% of the time.
Data not populating anymore
What’s going on? In the last few days many locations have no data at all? With the last update I also lost my favorites.
My go to photography app
This app has been amazing over the past few years I’ve been using it. So much data and information in one place. Can’t wait to test out the latest update with golden hour predictions.
Great idea, bad implementation
It may have to do with the way that the SunsetWx data is processed, but I saw, as other did, wildly different data with small movements on the map. The UI is “okay” and I’d say it works fine if the information being displayed was accurate. Sometimes you just see a giant circle that indicates a GREAT sunrise/sunset, with a low score, but then a small swipe and it’s gone. Something I noticed was that the highlight always seems to have an “X” pattern to it, highest in the center. Just doesn’t help me. Cancelled trial and deleted the app.
The worst
Drove 45 min to a sunset spot as the app said 73% for the sunset. We got there and it was pouring. Huge thunderstorm. Spoiler alert: there was 0% visible sunset.
