Description

MyGovID is the Government of Ireland’s digital identity application that allows you to verify your identity, receive a Public Services Card (PSC), and access a range of online Irish government services.
To verify your identity online, you need to:
1. Have a basic MyGovID account
2. Be 16 years of age or older
3. Have a valid Irish passport
4. Have proof of your address on the island of Ireland
If you do not have a basic MyGovID account, you can get one by going to www.mygovid.ie and completing the following steps:
1. Click ‘Create an Account Now’ in the top right corner of the page
2. Enter your personal details
3. Enter the one-time passcode that was sent to your email address
4. Agree to the terms and conditions.
With a basic MyGovID account, you can verify your identity by downloading the MyGovID App and logging in using the details of your basic MyGovID account. You will be guided through the following steps:
Step 1: Identity Document
You need to confirm your identity by taking a selfie, taking a photo of your passport and scanning your passport with your phone. These steps match your selfie with your passport photo to help confirm your identity.
Step 2: Additional Details
You need to provide your birth surname, your mother’s birth surname, confirm your address, and provide proof of your address on the island of Ireland. Proof of your address must be a recent document that shows your name and address such as a utility bill, insurance policy, or other official document. The document must be dated within the past 6 months.
Step 3: Account Security
In order to keep your verified MyGovID account secure, you will be asked to select two security questions and enter your mobile phone number. Each time you log in to your MyGovID account, you will receive a one-time passcode to the mobile phone number you provide.
Your submitted online application will be reviewed and you will receive an email in approximately 10 working days. If approved, you will be able to access a range of online Irish government services using your new verified MyGovID account and you will receive your Public Services Card, by post, to the address you provided.

If your application is not successful, you will need to attend your local Intreo Centre to complete your application.
Your personal information will not be stored in the application or on your mobile phone once you complete your application. Only the minimum personal information required to access online Irish government services is provided. For more information, visit www.MyGovID.ie.

Record tax revenues and this is the standard of app development we get from our government. Insane stuff

Crashing app.

eljlaljl on

Ireland

The app keeps crashing at the middle of the sign up for the public service card. I lost my license abroad and have been trying to replace it. It’s such a nightmare

Useless

marcasmci on

Ireland

I don’t understand the point of this app. Made me do all the steps and made me wait a couple days just to tell me to go into the centre.

Useless

Coadelougs on

Ireland

5 attempts to verify my account and failed each time and at the end of each attempt it advises I do it in person in the office. Then what’s the point of this app!! 1 star! Typical Irish gov. Cheap

App not available in the UK

Tomas_McC on

As a cross border worker, living in the north and working in the south - I needed to download this app to submit passport details for an employment update. However the app isn’t available in the UK App Store, and to change to the RoI App Store you need to have an address in the republic and a bank account registered in the RoI. Fortunately I have the bank account but needed to spoof the address in order to simply get access to this app. This is surely discriminatory and makes public services really challenging to access for cross border workers.

Useless

skippi90 on

Allows you to waste time entering everything, then fails at the last step and asks you to verify in person. In information on how it failed or what’s happened. Useless and time wasting pointless app

Beyond useless

Fionn Mc on

Ireland

Went through the long verification process, for it to fail at the last step. It doesn’t say where/how it failed, or save anything you’ve entered up to that point. Our tax euros hard at work, paying for this garbage..

So stupid app

No use at all stupid from head to toe

Purpose of this app?

JKSnip on

Ireland

I’ve downloaded this app with the expectation it’s a handy way to deal with my GovID. But as someone earlier mentioned: after login it opens the website straightaway, making this app pointless, other then logging into the site. Deleted this app directly. Pointless app

Useless

Useless app, doesn’t work. Can’t read the passport picture.
