App is bad
The app never loads so I can’t do anything with my lights. Nanoleaf was a waste of money. Apple needs to pull these from their stores.

I have been unable to sync my Nanoleaf strip to my iPhone — you’re supposed to be able to do it using just Bluetooth, but I keep immediately getting the “Select a Home” screen as if I have a smart home platform. And get this: to submit a help ticket on the web, it is mandatory to select a smart home platform. But if I don’t need one … right? My first help desk ticket (in which I picked a random platform on the web form and explained I had none in my message) resulted in a series of steps to take. I unplugged and replugged; performed a factory reset; and deleted and reinstalled the app. Well, I still immediately got the “Select a Home” screen. I contacted Nanoleaf’s help desk via the website a second time and … crickets. More than a week without a response. I dug around online to get a phone number, and guess what? The line’s always busy.
still no portrait mode. one star until portrait mode is implemented. please stop being lazy. what is it going to take for nanoleaf to implement portrait mode support? so disappointing.
Hardware is good, software is miserable to deal with.
I cannot figure out how to delete scenes even after spending quite some time Googling how to and watching YouTube tutorials. Everyone seems to have a different version of the app. I also can’t seem to be able to set scenes to more than one room at once. Horrible setup.
Why do these lights need to be rejiggered? Twice now they’ve reset themselves where I get the red light flash of death, it defaults to a yellow light, then I have to re-pair.
Terrible technical support, terrible issues trying to connect Nanoleaf to HomeKit. Endless flaws in the app, and integrations. And all of that coming from a very technical person. Totally frustrating!
Update: now that the latest update wiped all my devices from being findable….i don’t have to worry about resetting at least one of them every few weeks. ———— I waited 2 years to leave this review hoping the app would improve with benefits from the high price tag, but no dice. Just more crappy products soaking up the cash instead of making the current product line usable. Nanoleaf is a “premium” product with terrible/cheap build quality and the worst home control app I’ve ever used. $20 devices I have maintain more stable connections. My products take turns cycling which is unreachable in the app. Can’t delete palettes, and scene management is a joke. The app is a nightmare to use….even for an IT professional.
New app freezes on loading. All of my lights say “updating” on iOS. So unreliable!
The app states that a critical update must be deployed for further use, yet any attempt to allow the update to occur results in an automatic closure of the app, both on the iPhone and IPad platforms.
