# I’ve never used the app before. How do I start? #
Download the Nationwide banking app and follow the instructions on screen, you’ll need your Nationwide account details or customer number.
You can log in with Face ID, Touch ID or passnumber if your device allows.
Once you have set up biometrics on your account, you will be able to confirm new payments with Face ID or Touch ID. We will ask you to take a selfie. We might still need to verify your identity using your card reader, so please keep it somewhere safe just in case.

# How safe is the Nationwide banking app? #
Our Digital Banking promise means:
• We'll refund any money taken from your account without your authorisation
• We'll monitor and protect your account 24/7 with the latest technology
• We'll provide you with education on how to stay safe including top tips and information on the latest fraud and scam trends

# You can use the app to: #

• View your accounts and statements; savings, loans, mortgages, credit cards and current accounts.
• Browse our product offerings, and open new accounts.
• Customise your banking app home screen. You can choose slimmer account tiles to see more on your screen.
• Manage your payments – set up, cancel and amend standing orders in the app. You can cancel Direct Debits too.
• Authenticate transactions in the internet bank and when shopping online.
• Report lost, stolen or damaged cards. You can also freeze / unfreeze your debit card.
• Add your cards to Apple Pay.
• Download copies of your monthly statements for some accounts.
• Search for or scan transactions at a glance. The app shows you pending transactions and includes easy identifiers such as brand logos and the organisation’s location and contact details.
• Set savings goals and your own contactless payment limits. You can also turn off contactless payments.
• Round up your spending and save the extra directly into your savings account.
• If you ever find gambling becomes a problem for you, use the app to set a gambling block.
• Personalise your settings to update your personal details, get text alerts and go paperless.

Yet again the app has frozen and I can't access it. Usually have to delete and reinstall by going through the whole security process again - sort it out Nationwide or I might decide to remove all my accounts with you

9 out of ten times I open this app it just hangs.  The only way around it is to shut my phone down and restart.  Very frustrating.

I’m all for change but the latest update is not as user- friendly as the previous interface. 
My 3 previous transactions from yesterday are classed as ‘Pending’ although they were by card, were instant and have been taken from my balance. Today’s transactions are now lower down the list of transactions. 
Running account balance is daily but would be better after each transaction. 
Biggest gripe is no cheque paying in facility as is provided by other banking apps. 
Having said all this, it’s still much easier using the app than travelling to use a branch!

There seems to be problems with transferring funds overseas - all my enquiries concerning a sum of money sent to Australia and it has not turned - the result was no one in Nation Wide knows who it was sent to - which is a bit worrying and of course the CHAT is completely useless - so customer be aware better to use a professional international service

Whilst this app has brought in several functional improvements to the old version, it has clearly lacked user testing, it still falls short of what competitors are offering and, from my experience, still prone to regular crashes.  As a previous reviewer has pointed out, there is still no way of seeing the payment reference once money has been sent or received. Nationwide are apparently working on a new release for this later this year but, come on Nationwide, it’s been months and months and months since you updated your app and something like this should have been included in the original release. You are way behind the competition.

So confused, I use the app on my phone every day but when I tried to use it on my iPad it says I need to register for online banking - went through all the steps and all I achieved was to log on to online banking and not the app. I can’t delete the app because it tells me I need either fingerprint ID or my passcode but there’s no place to do that.
