I used the app to navigate for 2 weeks on a sailing yacht through Italy, Elba, Sardinië and Corsica. I wasn’t sure how well it would work but I downloaded the Mediterranean chart and uploaded it onto my iPad and iPhone 13. I did have a sim card in my ipad but didn’t need it unless I wanted to use the weather feature on the app. (Which was also very accurate). My iPads GPS worked perfectly without needing data. I am pleased to report that the app was extremely accurate both on rocks and dangers as well as depths. I really enjoyed using it, even for night approaches to tricky anchorages. I also enjoyed the tracking feature to replay the days sailing when I arrived back at home. Thank you for a great product. I hope to be able to go on another trip to use it again.
Thanks
It often will not open on my iphone 11 or ipad mini (5th gen). Both are using ios 14.4. Both have over 100gig of space available and all other apps closed. I have had to delete the app on my iphone and reload it to get it to work, but then I lose all my downloaded charts. Very frustrating. The point is to use this as a backup navigation tool when cruising, however with this behaviour its pretty much useless.
Since Garmin purchased Navionics, this app has become useless. I believe they are trying to limit what you can see without a Garmin chart plotter. Just canceled my subscription
This App is a rip off. I made a subscription $49.99 and then was blocked when I tried to register an account. I’m trying to get back my money but no joy.
Used to be reasonable but now not so much. 99% of people need maps for maybe one state but no option to get a limited area or only pay for a month or two or service at a fair price. I’ll look elsewhere.
I genuinely like many/most of the features of Navionics, I like the interface, I love the infinite direction pointer, fast to load, dashboard is OK, but that all is lost because it delivers heading and bearings in True North and not Magnetic North. This makes the app almost useless for real navigation and true chart plotting. Without Magnetic North this is only a little better then Google maps with navigation boys overlay. I honestly can’t believe they would put out a serious nautical navigation tool without Magnetic North, it makes it feel like a toy.
I use this to navigate sailboat in a narrow river with sandbars and often wind and current ( CA delta). I pay the yearly subscription but may cancel because it sometimes fails to update the gps position. I have to restart the app to get it to update when if happens, but its not easy when you're juggling many other challenges. I gave latest app and charts and . BEWARE
Why in gods green earth did you remove the manual rotation of the charts?? Bring that back please!!!!
