It’s so disappointing, almost like my favorite toy is broken!

hfdvgfhugcdg on

This app used to be fantastic, literally the best app I’d ever used for anything and a day wouldn’t pass without me opening it. Now… after several disappointments (it crashed on a new iPhone consistently, it kept making really strange routing decisions, it was just unreliable) over the past couple of years I just gave up using it, and started using SavvyNavy instead. This year I opened it on my iPhone and it worked, so I purchased the maps to my area (grudgingly, admittedly) - this morning, I opened it on my iPad, logged in and I’m just getting a spinning wheel, not even an error message. I’ve got a new(ish) iPad Air, about 18 months old, the iPad is up to date, the latest version of Navionics… it’s just basically unreliable. Wasted subscription, back to Savvy Navvy …. Honestly folks, don’t waste your money, find something else.

Impossible to renew subscription

AvenirUK on

I have tried numerous times and keep getting a [0xEB] error no matter what I do. Any suggestions as we,re about to embark on a voyage 😡

Locked out of old charts

AshPP on

After years of being able to access my out of date charts without renewing my subscription, the newer version of the app no longer allows this- you can only access charts if you have an active subscription. Navionics support article says that I should never have expected this, however when I originally purchased the chart it was marketed on the basis that I’d be able to still access charts, they just would not be updated. In my scenario where I use it for navigation of familiar waters this was great since it could provide bearings and distances to marks, however if I was to go somewhere unfamiliar I would be more than willing to pay for new and up to date chart to ensure safe passage planning. Much like if I were purchasing paper charts, if I had an old one for local familiar waters but I would purchase up to date ones if I was off exploring. The way that this has been done and the general tone of the support article is very poor, which is really disappointing as my experience of Garmin prior to this was very good.

Clunky now

Tjhonda on

Really has gone down hill since garmin has taken, to many thing to list, but not restoring my recent purchases across different devices is the main one’ we run an Rya training center and exploring all the options on the market now.

From good to useless

MalcRob on

Account log-in feature is a become a faulty liability. With an active subscription, and a strong 5G connection that allows me to browse the the web, including Garmin’s own website, when I try to log-in to my account, I immediately get a ‘connection failed, try again later’ message. Updating the app, restarting the app multiple times, and rebooting iPad have all had no effect. Because of the changes Garmin appears to have made to the log-in process, which never used to be a problem in the past, this app can no longer be regarded as a reliable navigation tool and is therefore useless. Don’t waste your money on it. PS - message to Garmin tech support: if I don’t have a reliable internet connection, how come I was able to write this review of your app?

Poor

rintintinny on

This app has gone from good, to bad, to worse. The most irritating feature it started off with was it keeps reverting to ‘north up’. You can change this is in ‘map settings’ to head up or course up. It will not stay in ‘head up ‘or ‘course up’ for any length of time. Now in either ‘head up’ or ‘course up’ the wording on the map stays in ‘north up’. It’s not compatible with Apple Watch. It used to be great on an iPad, now it’s not. When used on Garmin watches the screen is poor. Basically, take a really good app and ruin it, that’s what they have done.

Sonar phone vexilar

qwe bbs qqqqq on

Latest app version not displaying live sonar with vexilar sonar phone device. Both navionics and vexilar website shows both are compatible and even says so on the front of the sonar phone box, misleading advertising from both sides

Gutted

Man with a shed on

Totally gutted that I cannot renew my subscription because my iPad runs IOS 12.5.7 and can’t be upgraded to 13. I was quite happy with the version of Navionics Boating app I had, why this forced hardware obsolescence? Why can’t Garmin enable renew subscriptions for those running older hardware?

Tide timings are not accurate!

Lymo sailor on

I have downloaded the app and noticed that high tide at Lymington is showing as approximately 2 hours later than shown in the official tide tables. However, low tide times are accurate which makes only four hours between the low and high tides! Because of this the app is absolutely useless and not fit for purpose. I would therefore like my money back unless an immediate fix is available.

Folders in Route Archive please

Be_Traist on

Would be brilliant if they added a “Folders” feature to the route archive. I’ve got routes from cruising grounds all over the world I want to group together in folders rather than scroll through hundreds.
