HEAR WHAT NEIGHBORS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT NEXTDOOR
“Before Nextdoor, I didn’t know there were several qualified babysitters living nearby and looking for work. It was easy to feel comfortable hiring my neighbor’s daughter to watch my son after school.” - Patrick, Mission East
“This year for Spring Cleaning, we wanted to sell old appliances, tools, clothing and electronics on Nextdoor Finds. In no time, our neighbors stopped by to make a deal and take things off our hands. It was easier than anything else, and it feels good knowing our old stuff has found a new home in the neighborhood.” - Dan, Hayes Valley
OUR PURPOSE
At Nextdoor, we believe that by bringing neighbors together, we can cultivate a kinder world where everyone has a neighborhood they can rely on.
YOUR PRIVACY
Nextdoor is a trusted environment where all neighbors are verified, making it safe to share online the kinds of things you'd be okay sharing with your neighbors in person.
Here's how:
• Every neighbor verifies their address
• All members go by their real names, just like in person
Continued use of Location Services running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Nextdoor doesn't run Location Services in the background unless you give us permission by turning on optional features that require it.

Becoming useless for neighborhood news
I’m getting frustrated with NextDoor app. It’s flooded with ads and the same ads are often repeated many times as I scroll, sometimes every other post! Plus, now there are 3 choices at the top: For You, Latest, Nearby with the default set at For You rather than Near You. And I’m seeing neighborhoods that I have not chosen to follow! it’s getting way out of hand. The ads are getting in the way of seeing neighborhood postings. Hate to delete it because it has served a good purpose…at least it did in the past. It’s become a self serving app for the creator or whomever is getting rich off it. Not user friendly anymore and certainly doesn’t have the users best interest in mind.
Feed changes made it worse
The feed is engineered to drive ‘engagement’, so the most controversial posts across the city appear at the top. That means mostly fear and politics, and this amygdala tickling is why I left Facebook. Luckily Nextdoor had settings where you could override this behavior, but it would sadly revert back to maximum drama after 60 days.
Now there are sort buttons at the top of the feed for maximum drama, recent, or nearby. Every time you restart the app it reverts to maximum drama. Sigh.
This app should not be Facebook and really shines when I can see local posts as they’re posted. Let me sort by most recent and filter the feed to local neighborhoods, then keep those settings until *I* change them.
Leads
Next Door has many great features but the power that Leads are given isn’t one of them. Wouldn’t recommend this app. If you do join, tread very lightly especially if your Lead and you see the world differently than you (politics, homelessness, safety, etc).
So true, thank you!!!!!
Not good
Shows posts from far away Worthless to me
Learning the Neighborhood
It’s cool see people wonder some same things I do! App a bit hard to navigate takes bit of time get use to then you kind of learn it better
Helpful information
I have found a lot of helpful responses to my questions. This has led me to meeting tradesmen who are very honest and responsive. I am very thankful.
SEE LIST OF WHO LIKED POST
ONE DAY I COULD EASILY CLICK AND SEE EVERYONE WHO LIKED A POST, THE NEXT DAY I CAN’T SEE IT
Land of Karen’s
They should name this app the nosy neighbor app. This is the land of Karen’s. I’ve never seen so many busybody petty people in one place. The community standards are enforced on a sliding scale by fragile little minded people. Other than that, it’s great.
Crashes
Just got this app and my phone has frozen twice. The app is always freezing and it’s slow.
I opened this because I was trying to adopt
The lil dog that was there, an I opened up an signed in it was gone
