I have downloaded the app for my AppleTV and the live stream portion of the app has subtitles enabled by default. For the life of me, I haven’t found the setting to disable them.

That’s the only thing that prevents me from using the app regularly.

Up until December this was a fabulous app that allowed for streaming of live NHK programming including the news.  Since then we have not been able to live stream any programs despite ensuring the app is updated a reinstalling a number of times.  Its no longer a useful app to us as we can no longer watch the live news updates

NHK world has so many programmes and gigs that you’d think it’s automatic tour guide about Japan. The layout of the channel is very “eye-friendly” not to mention the satiable news news info it gives. NHK World is truly a model news station for the whole world to watch.

I have an iPhone 4S with iOS6. 

The major issue I'm currently experiencing is when the video skips about one minute back or ahead. Sometimes in a 30 minute period this happens about a dozen times. It sometimes makes the shows unwatchable because you keep losing your place. 

Also sometimes the video periodically has trouble starting. Not as bad as the first issue though. 

It is to the point where I just go to the website to watch since there are no problems there. 

That all said, the programming and shows are very enjoyable. I'd recommend it mainly because of that. I just hope they address the issues.

Excellent coverage of the unfolding tragedy in Japan. However, the sharing of information would be greatly improved if this app were tweaked to permit the streaming to TV via Air Play made possible by iOS 4.3. Interested family members could then watch the newscasts with me on the larger screen. At the moment only the audio is streamed. Please add video streaming. Five stars if that's done.
