Love the content, Japanese learning programs, shows, news. I really wish there was a way to save, subscribe, and go to our favorite shows.
It’s difficult to find and remember each show we like, making it a hassle and annoyance to continue watching.
I also wish there was less voice-overs and they are sometimes difficult to understand, and even difficult because of how corny it is to listen to. This would also help with the large population of people that watch NHK (folks learning Japanese).

I used to watch NHK on my Apple TV all the time. Recently I re-download the app and realized most channels are now streamed in English or any other language besides Japanese. Originally I downloaded the app to improve my Japanese and I wish they would bring back the ability to watch in full Japanese again.

This has been going on too long. This app for Android is only available as an Amazon app store download but not on Google Play Store. 

Also been going on too long is the video quality is not great. When it's people talking in the video, it's fine. But show any fast movement or even a forest - which NHK has a lot of content of - and the video just looks ugly. Can you implement H265 and 4K video in the app??

i love the ad-free programming streaming live 24/7.  especially the railway and train videos. NHK also provides fair, balanced, and unbiased world news segments. 

one small gripe: there needs to be a way to dismiss the informational dialog that displays each time app starts.

One of the relaxing yet captivating broadcast.
Their dedicated app makes it easy to watch so much of their content without ads. For me this channel is a quick daily visit to Japan.

Wish features like video player quick skip back or forward by 5 or 10 seconds and mark videos for watch later are included.

I cannot connect this app to airplay on my Apple TV. It is the only app that I have that has this issue. Please fix it! I would love to watch nhk programs on my Apple TV.

Please add dark mode, the app starts with a white screen, if you're using the app on an iPad, it's not good for the eyes to look at a white bright screen until the app loads. Thank you.

The app ignores system-settings for auto subtitles.

The app has no Settings to configure subtitles. 

The app uses a non-standard video player that has no controls for subtitles. 

Subtitles aren't even in the correct location. It just places a big text box at the top of the video instead of putting subtitles at the bottom/center. 

The app says it uses AI to auto-translate subtitles, but it displays English text in English-only videos, so it's clearly not translating anything.

### ***-- "A mixed bag"
I was glad to find this app on the iTunes App Store for both Apple TV & iPhone, but was a bit disappointed to discover that although the picture quality is significantly-better than it is provided by Spectrum cable on one of their channels, unfortunately the Apple TV app doesn’t support fast-forward or rewinding using the Apple TV remote (the pause, volume buttons and mute functions as expected). 

Worse, exiting the program stream means the user has to start over from the beginning of the stream (it doesn’t remember where you exited the stream); this makes it impractical to use.

Out of curiosity, I downloaded the iPhone app, and although it supports Chromecast in app (& iPhone app allows fast-forwarding and rewinding), the video quality is significantly worse than when watching with the Apple TV app. 

And although the iPhone iOS app supports Chromecast (which I have on my TV), surprisingly it doesn’t offer or support Airplay (which obviously is the preferred choice for Apple TV).

The NHK app strikes me as a good app, but as if the developers lost interest in Apple support, so they failed to add even basic features to make it useable.
