Having entered your NHS number you will subsequently be able to display it immediately with one tap. Typing errors will generally be detected since the number contains a check digit. If you do not know your number you will be able to find it on a prescription or other NHS document. If not ask your surgery. A barcode is also displayed that is able to be read by suitable equipment.
