Compared to the 30s native iPhone photos, I’m finding NightCap to be terrible in low light. Details that are apparent in the native iPhone camera shots, just get completely washed out and lost in NightCap. The Startrails mode seems quite reasonable providing you don’t want any ground details. If you want this for astronomy photos, it really isn’t very good. However, it does do some excellent day time long exposure photos and you can get some interesting results - the long exposure mode can make moving objects/people disappear from the photo with enough time and the light trails gives interesting shots and could be excellent for lighting photography - for that, it’s worth the money but for Stars, you’re better off taking multiple 30 second photos with the iPhone and stacking with something like Sequator on the PC.
Very bad. No point downloading it. Didn’t capture anything!
This app says it can do things and in most cases it fails. Very disappointed. Next time I’ll use a real camera.
If you plan on taking an important shot where you don’t have time to muck about, this software is not for you. I’d gladly accept a refund I cannot see that I would use this app much.
I really like this program, especially the ease of changing the focal distance. One issue I have had is when I want to do time lapse photography of the night sky. If the video is less than 6 minutes, there is no problem, but if I record for several hours, I find that 2 times I have had rare and beautiful star filled skies and yet either my iPhone 12 or max or Nightca does something so that my video becomes 1 second in length and over 100mb in size. Haven’t worked out the issue but in the meantime it would be nice if there is an option to break a file into parts so that no data is lost. Thank you for making this app.
Easy to use layout, plus remote shutter control, a bunch of great presets plus fantastic range of manual controls get the photo you want every time. Highly recommended
Unfortunately fairly useless on the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Does not zoom to the 12x the pro Mac can and using your tutorial to photo graph the super moon tonight produced a fuzz image.
As a paid app, can you fix it please?
the UI is confusing.
