Where did my other albums go??
As is everyone, I am really frustrated with the then-free and now paid-for service with Nixplay. I would have been fine with being given the option to upgrade to a paid service with reasonable storage. However, I only have 350 photos on my frame and only 100 are visible (the other photos are “locked” and greyed-out/not visible anymore unless I pay a fee) with the “free” subscription service of 500 mb. In fact, the app notification states that I have been “downgraded” to Basic. How kindly worded! I don’t need the typical “T&Cs” or “offer price” response to this review. It was all handled very poorly and I will not be a continued Nixplay customer. This isn’t even about “change” being difficult as they’ve previously mentioned in other review replies. There’s a reason why the term “grandfathered” exists. It’s to avoid causing harm and distrust to the relationship with your long-term, existing clientele. They are simply capitalizing on the legal jargon they quickly reference. Really thought a company in the business of sentiment and keeping memories alive would act with more… soul. My mistake.
I am one of many Nixplay customers who bought their frame and then subjected to a bait and switch when they dropped the storage from 10GB to 0.5GB unless a subscription fee is paid. A total scam and unethical behaviour from this company trying to force customers who were advertised 10 GB of free storage to subscribe by rendering the hardware virtually un-usable.
So they drastically cut the limit for photos unless you pay. OK, so a month ago I paid for 100 Gb storage and am currently using 2 Gb. The app says I’m over limit and won’t load photos or even display them all. There used to be phone tech support but that is also gone, not even included in the regular paid subscription! If you don’t already have a Nixplay and photos uploaded I would consider another option. Just got a new developer update message after quite a few months. « So sorry you’re disappointed and we’re working on it ». Nothing substantial and never any resolution as to what happened. I eventually deduced that the issue was that a shared playlist from a family member who has another frame but stayed with the free subscription mode is the issue (empirically, removing it from our frame allows it to work). This is obviously a poor application design issue but Nixplay hasn’t figured it out or fixed it.
Paid to upgrade to a Lite plan to get more storage space. My wife, who shares the album, was unable to add photos since she was still on a Basic plan. We tried logging her off and back on without success. We then removed her from sharing the album and subsequently lost photos in the album that she had added. After logging her on using my account, she was able to add photos only sporadically (sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t). Nothing like paying for an upgrade that provides less functionality. I would like to get my money back.
Joe was very helpful 😃! It took a lil bit to figure out our issue with frame updates but he stuck with it and we got our resolution. Thank you
Good experience with customer service at Nixplay. Martin was very help with my problem.
Excellent service et réponse rapidement avec des explications très clair Merci Martin tu as été d’une aide précieuse
Newest update throttled the “free” capacity of the frame no matter the HD size. Essentially forces you to now pay a yearly subscription or pay a monthly/yearly fee. Disgusting! They sell you a HD with a capacity you are unable to use! Total scam - AVOID THIS PRODUCT. Also, terrible customer service response - “hey you wanna talk about it” F-off no I don’t wanna talk to a liar.
Useless app since they unfairly switched to a subscription model. Disgusting company practise. I had this frame for one month and then the switch happened. My frame is useless now
