Yes, Noom Weight Loss is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Noom Weight Loss legit?
🤔 The Noom Weight Loss app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
An app that only works for the first 16 week programme. If you refresh it does not reset or start afresh. So with a half broken app they have the cheek to charge recurring payments sneakily without a heads up.And god forbid you want to cancel payment, the app no longer works and you need to go through hoops and loops and maybe if you are lucky you will manage to cancel subscription on time before being charged.
Buggy App
App has a lot of bugs that affect performance and your ability to do the program. Tech support’s best advice is to uninstall and restart your phone. Disappointing because the programming works, but the tech isn’t there to support it.
Such an excellent weight loss program.
I can’t believe I lost a 100 pounds on this program. Took a little over a year but i am so happy! Takes time and definitely committing to this but it is doable. It has its ups and downs and would recommend.
Medications REQUIRE PHOTO
To get prescribed medications this app requires you to upload a full body photo. This is not told to you until AFTER you have already paid for the medication. The Hims app does not require any kind of photos to be uploaded in order to receive your prescription. We should be informed of this before any kind of payment is required.
It’s Changed
I used this app a couple months ago and I really liked it! First of all, it forgot my account to I had to make a new one. Regardless, I decided to try it again but it’s definitely changed. I’ve had to take the quiz 6 times just bc i didn’t wanna look at the payment yet. You used to be able to use a free version of the app but now that’s practically useless. You have to do a body scan now? that was horrible. You can’t do a monthly subscription now? Overall, I used to love this app and now it’s just frustrating. I’ll find something else.

I’ve been very pleased with this weight loss program. Using food psychology and closely monitoring weight has worked for me
Not Telling the Whole Truth
While I understand fruits and veggies should make up the “bulk” of our diets (obvious and didn’t need an app to tell me that) it’s discouraging to see foods that are healthy choices marked as “not desirable/bad” (yellow/orange foods per the apps description)
For example: a store-bought pre-made salad that is 90% vegetables with some seeds, is considered “yellow” (aka bad) entirely.
This app fails to break down the nutrients from the pre-made salad: the mixed leafy greens and other vegetables, as well as the nutrients from the healthy fats of nuts/seeds. (It literally marks the entire SALAD as a bad choice) and therefore this app is insufficient in its educational purpose. It WILL shame you for eating a SALAD!!!!!
Basically: this app does not positively reinforce anything except eating raw (or steamed and unseasoned 🙄) vegetables, fruits and/or low/non-fat products. This app is like vegetarian propaganda.
The thing is… OF COURSE people are going to lose weight this way… OF COURSE they’ll lose weight by NOT eating anything but low/non-fat items + fruits/vegetables + non meat sources of protein.
But that isn’t advice worth paying for, we all already know that. (And people ENJOY eating meat and aren’t going to stop so.. why not be honest about the health benefits of meat????[instead of just marking it as “bad”])
So I don’t really think Noom should get the credit for helping people to lose weight.
Maybe this app can get some credit for helping people be more accountable, or be more excited to make a change/lose weight, or find a new way of thinking about what they eat.. but lets be honest, this isn’t something anybody really needs to be paying for.
ALSOOOOOOOOO
Don’t fall for the app advertising to you that “people that signed up for 6 months immediately instead of the 1 week trial were more likely to lose weight”. OF COURSE those people were more likely to lose weight, those were the individuals who were ALREADY committed, that’s why they bought the 6months right off the bat😅what a scheme
Best of 4 in 20 Years
I’ve lost 90 pounds and maintaining after almost 2 years. It’s slow, though, not for your next beach trip! 1.45 pounds per week.
Why? You get reeducation! WW has great nutrition; AFP counts calories well; Walter Reed changed my sleep. None of them had the refreshing Lessons and learning of Noom.
AND they added a track for GLP-1 users like me!
The best!
Enjoying the process
Only thing missing would be a weight lifting portal that you could enter exercise with reps and weight.
Fine. Could be better.
Works very well at first when you’re new to everything, but after using for a few months you realize the main benefit is nudging you to weigh yourself in the morning and count calories, which other apps can do as well. The classwork was inspiring at first, but the tone is too cute and seems more geared towards women than men, and people really struggling with weight vs those who just want to lose a few pounds. Would be really great if the app tailored the style to your gender, fitness level, and other preferences so that the class work fits your personality better. Also: include an option for keto and intermittent fasting - these things work but are discouraged in Noom
