Noom Weight Loss Reviews

Quality is going downhill.

I have been using Noom since may 2023. When I signed up I thought this would be personalised like advertised, but it really wasn’t. I accepted that instead of personal coaches it was done in groups and carried on. In the last month the app has gotten substantially worse in terms of user experience. I used an iphone8 for years and put up with a lot of weird bugs because iPhone8 not supported anymore. In November I got a new iphone16. I expected the experience to improve, but it got waaaay worse. You have to completely close the app often more then once to get it to refresh. If you don’t parts of the interface are just missing like the part you click to weigh in. The worst part is, when you try to talk to a coach now, it is welly a bot and if you try to say there is a bug with the app, welly tells you to contact support by clicking the question mark. The question mark loads an ai chat bot…who will eventually tell you it’s transferring you to support. Then this “person” has some bot sounding name and insists they are a person but still just tells you to update to the latest app. I am on the latest per the App Store and the experience is bad. Eventually after wasting your time they ask if you want to be transferred to the tech team. Months ago, you could go direct to tech team and submit a bug ticket with screen shots.

Annoying, unhelpful

This app has the energy like if you were trying to learn to lift weights but the only available instructor was Richard Simmons. First of all, I will never trust any app that suggests I replace the tortilla in my burrito with lettuce right out of the gate. Their whole magical “psychology” thing is eat food with more water and you won’t eat as many calories. I don’t know about you, but for me, the feeling of my stomach being full and the feeling of hunger, aka urge to eat, are not the same feeling. But to rope it off, their green yellow orange food sorter actually doesn’t help at all with learning what to eat because it gives you zero information except for calorie density. No help if I want to cut sugars or raise proteins. No macros, no vitamins, no help with salt, or sugar, or anything. And their meal tracker is biased towards people who eat while food meals like chicken and rice. If you eat, for example, any kind of ethnic food, it’s nearly impossible to get accurate entires and portions. Examples of foods that I struggled to enter because their food tracker is pathetic: enchiladas, tikka masala, fufu, pupusas, phô, saag paneer, tabbouleh, any kind of stew in the world, anything else where you cook multiple ingredients in one pot/pan/dish. My whole experience with this app was that it is useless and annoying and their “psychology” seems to be made up of wishful thinking. They say it’s science, but since they don’t provide sources, how would anyone know?

Just missed that 5th star

I have to admit, I loved the NOOM app, till it came time to deal with a particular person in the customer service department about a mix up with my subscription. That incident really clouded my opinion on NOOM. I loved the set up and the daily lessons but when you can’t afford the lump sum they ask for, forget all that-you won’t see it again. I just keep getting the run around on an “affordable deal” with NOOM, so I guess I’ll have to use my second choice app, what a shame…

Don’t give these crooks your money

They will charge you twice, and you will have to fight to get your money back… worst money I have ever spent…

Having fun with it

I have been struggling with my weight all my life. Between dieting, appetite suppressants, exercise, and acceptance-my weight slowly climbs. I’m really enjoying Noom as a learning experience and just following the suggestions not fighting them. I’m having fun with it and look forward to seeing scale results soon. I know my body feels better!

I’ve seen success with Noom but then they just roll out changes without doing proper market research

Misskct on

United States

Extremely disappointed with the way the product team at Noom just decides to roll out changes without doing proper research on their customer base. I’ve lost 20 pounds over the past 8 months with Noom and not once has the team asked me about my success to help improve the app. Multiple times they have rolled out BIG changes in the app without gathering feedback from those who are actually seeing success with the app. They just rolled out a new system for calories which is extremely confusing to me. Update: The response to my review also feels like AI/a canned response as they did not acknowledge anything I said

Noom is every other weight loss app with a higher price tag and a different kind of shame because they'll tell you "orange foods aren't bad" but they'll create a platform that makes you feel guilty for eating chai seeds and spend none of their profits on making sure their nutrition trackers are accurate in ANY WAY. I got praise from their algorithm for days I barely ate due to stress. This company promotes eating disorders as much as any other weight loss money grab while wearing a different outfit.
