## NowPlaying Description
Music, made more fun. Find records you'd never have run into on your own, then learn everything about them. Who played bass, where it was recorded, what it samples.

Featured on TechCrunch, MacRumors, iMore, 9to5Mac, DailyTekk, BGR, and more.

● Who it's for
Anyone who wants to hear more new music, and know more about the music they already love.

• Anyone hunting for their next favourite album, not another playlist
• People who want a new record to try every day
• Everyone who hears a great song and needs to know more, right now
• Crate diggers and collectors who read every sleeve
• Apple Music and Last.fm fans who keep track of what they play
• Vinyl fans who want a proper display for the record that's spinning

● See more of your music
SongDisplay turns your iPhone or iPad into a display for whatever's playing. Artwork, facts, and the story behind the song, updating as the music changes. Prop it up next to the turntable and let it run.

• Album art or artist art, full screen
• Kiosk Mode hides the buttons so only the music shows
• Live Activity on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island
• Send it to a TV or monitor over AirPlay
• Every session saved, so you can find that one song again
• Read great insights about the song that’s playing

● Skip the algorithm
A new Album of the Day, picked for the genres you actually listen to. Swipe through Album Discovery to find records nothing else would serve you, drawn from the Rolling Stone 500, 1001 Albums, the Apple Music Top 100, new releases, and your own library. Read Pitchfork reviews and Bandcamp Daily picks in the same place, plus music books worth reading. Come back tomorrow for the next one.

● Know the whole story
Liner notes, verified facts, band members, samples and the songs they came from, awards, recording locations on a map, photography, set lists from the tour, and full lyrics. Translate any of it into your language, or let Song Story read it aloud.

● Find any song
Catch what's playing around you with Shazam. Scan the barcode on a CD or record. Photograph an album cover to identify it. Point Visual Intelligence at a sleeve. Or search all of Apple Music.

● Keep it all together
Save songs to Favourites and to your Apple Music library or a playlist. Scrobble to Last.fm. Add records to Discogs and songs to MusicThread. See your rated albums, On Repeat, and Heavy Rotation in one place. Build your Best of the year list and share it as an image.

Open anything in Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, YouTube Music, Deezer, Amazon Music, or Pandora.

● Everywhere you listen
Five Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, Control Center controls for listening, playing today's album, and scanning, plus Siri Shortcuts and Handoff between devices. NowPlaying also runs on Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro, in the same download.

● NowPlaying Gold
No ads, Last.fm scrobbling, your full search and SongDisplay history, extra details like awards and band members, Kiosk Mode, and app icons you unlock by listening and exploring. NowPlaying works without it. Gold makes it better and keeps it going.

## NowPlaying Reviews in United States

### ****- "Qobuz support?"
Would love Qobuz support.
-- iimmerse, 2026-09-14

### ***** "Love it"
Nice app for gigs
-- Nbeeebh, 2026-06-10

### ***-- "Listening function stopped working"
I used to use the listening function to identify songs. This function doesn’t work anymore. It just opens the settings for the app. I already have all the permissions allowed in settings but the listen function isn’t working anymore. Please fix this issue.
-- Sean P. Harrington, 2026-05-16

### *---- "Awesome when it works, but the problem is…"
This is a great app when it works. The problem is it doesn’t work more times it does work. I usually use the song display and it’s forever searching.
I really want to use this app, but I can’t depend on it
-- HawkEye2015, 2026-05-07

### *---- "Not gôd anymore"
I loved it when it worked
-- Skp3r3z, 2026-01-17

### ***** "Chinese version"
we have a large amount of demand of this app！
-- DiJian07, 2025-06-20

### ***** "Great app"
Great app does everything it should..
-- Dave Freeman 55, 2024-12-22

### ***** "Vinyl, CD, and Digital Scrobbling"
All of my music listening habits are tracked using the apps’ feature called SongDisplay, which uses Shazaam to identify the song then tracks your habits in Last.fm. This app does more than you can ask for and it does it well.

I have not used many other features because I was searching for a way to track my vinyl listening habits on a digital platform.
-- AUS10SPINS, 2024-12-21

### ***-- "What am I missing here?"
This app has one main purpose as I see it, and that is to improve the display of the song currently playing on your device. Only… that’s not what it does. Sure, you can start up the app and choose Now Playing and see a pretty cool view of the song that is now playing. But when the song changes, this app doesn’t seem to be aware that a different song is “now playing.” You have to terminate this app and restart it so that the currently playing song is shown onscreen. I know this can’t be the intended design so is this maybe a bug? Whatever it is I hope it’s fixed right quick because the app in its current state is useless.

Incidentally this issue is present for every device I’ve tried so far, from iPhone to iPad to Apple TV.
-- nerfTractor, 2024-12-02

### *---- "Monthly subscription is not an option"
I wanted to test it out for a month. Even though the subscription options in the app show a monthly option, a user cannot proceed to select and pay for the app that way. Only the annual option or lifetime option are active. This technical disconnect between what’s displayed versus what works doesn’t give me a lot of confidence.
