Doesn’t work anymore like it used to be 🙁

Magister_Noctis on

Dear programmers, Since I bought myself a brand new iPad about 18 months ago (iPad 10th generation with iPadOS 16.1 preinstalled) things are going terrible wrong concerning your previously critical acclaimed app by yours truly, but rarely, or better yet, even no updates anymore issued from your behalf. Now, being already upgraded to iPadOS 17.5.x there are numerous problems with starting mp4 movies using Chromecast. Isn’t this worth a huge disappointment because of lack of interest to update your formerly fabulous app that I already bought years ago? Or is there something that I do wrong? Have I by coincidence, perhaps, overlooked a new compatible upgrade that isn’t for free?! No matter what it is, but please keep in mind that I’m worried about the countless crashes of this app since I bought me a new iPad. Are you really sure that everything should still be compatible since the release of iPadOS 16 or more?! Or are there hardware related issues perhaps? 🤔 Quite disappointed though confident in a proper answer or, if really needed, always prepared to purchase a re-release to stay compatible and above all: to remain competitive with other similar apps who seem to have no single problem adapting themselves to new operating systems and new hardware, I am hoping to hear from you soon. Because Chromecast compatibility, always been your biggest strength, has become a true disaster nowadays. What should I do? Upgrading to another version that I haven’t found yet into the App Store? Or waiting for you to apply working bugfixes? I’m Asking for your help. No negative thoughts whatsoever intended! M.

My absolute number one choice to enjoy my media, for many reasons: Chromecast support, Cloud upload/download/streaming and something that I really appreciate: Linux SMB/Samba server support to transfer files from my Linux system to my iPad simply using my WiFi, a decent configured Linux SMB/Samba server in password protected mode or even encrypted, also capable of simply streaming my media remotely straight from Linux without downloading! Whether you’re streaming from a cloud service or your home network, multi platform compatibility is guaranteed. Doesn’t matter which OS runs on the other devices of your home network, it gets the job done! You don’t have to be an expert to get the most out of it, this app simply scans for devices and finds all your FTP/DLNA/SMB/HTTP/... servers in your home network and sums up your cloud backup accounts. All you have to do is providing some essential information like logins/passwords and, when requested, allowing access to your iOS photo roll, Music library and cloud storages. After that you’re settled. This app does it all, it’s (most important!) stable, comfortable to use, easily configured in 1-2-3 and much faster than similar apps (less heavyweight compared with other apps that are mostly a pain in the a** to configure properly, and still don’t work like it should, even after hours of troubleshooting they often fail to work as described in the AppStore (could it be fraud, then?), and above all they’re much more expensive to buy their full package of paid options (twice or more the price of this app that I bought at a reasonable one time fee, and it definitely does what it promises! So there are still third party developers who still know how to be beneficial and fair. Unfortunately, trustworthy developers are becoming a rare phenomenon nowadays. I got a suspicion that malicious apps are eventually also infiltrating the iOS AppStore, formerly a safe place where apps were quite reliable but spitefully these times are over, and Apple’s reputation isn’t what it used to be anymore. A shame, imho...). Conclusion: I got all reasons to be optimistic about this app and for sure I’d like to recommend it to every passionate multimedia enthusiast/fan/geek/freak/expert/novice/whatever who’s looking for a fantastic app that fulfills their (often high) demands. Therefore, no need to look any further, you already have found what you need if my current feedback which contains well deserved critical acclaim is visible to you. It’s
