## Number Shield Description
Block annoying scammers who hide behind fake phone numbers.

Do you get unwanted calls or text messages from phone numbers similar to your own?  With Number Shield, block an entire group of numbers at once.  Just enter a wildcard for each digit you want to block.

For example, if your number is 714-555-1234, scammers might use a number like 714-555-6789.  Block all similar numbers by entering 714-555-####.  Wildcards and numbers can be combined in any order you choose.  Block international numbers, too!

To make sure you don't miss calls from your family and friends, phone numbers in your contacts are always allowed.

Block numbers directly from your phone's missed calls screen.  Just follow these steps:

1. Tap the “ i ” button next to the missed call.
2. Tap “Share Contact”.
3. Tap “Block Similar Numbers”.  (If you don't see this action, tap “Edit Actions...“ to enable it.)
4. Now you'll see the Number Shield number entry screen.  Tap “Done” to block calls from similar numbers.

Please note:

• Each number pattern can contain up to 7 wildcards, and up to 50,000,000 phone numbers can be blocked.
• Blocked calls are sent directly to voice mail.
• Blocked text messages are sent to the “Junk” filter in the Messages app.
• iMessage messages are not blocked.
• When “Do Not Disturb” is enabled on your phone, calls that should be blocked may appear in your phone's list of missed calls.

I block numbers bc they come all from the same 3 first digits. Didn’t stop it.  I had to add multiple second 3 digests.  This just started happening.  Worked great up until the last 8 month or so. Once politics started.

Following the instructions, exactly it doesn’t work for messages. I can’t speak to whether or not it works with calls, but it flat out does not work with messages even with the correct masking. Utterly useless. Waste of money.

Edit: Doesn’t work well for my needs. I run a small local business, and spam calls are nearly destroying my business. Problem is partially with Apple, who only allows apps like this to block 2 million numbers. Which seems like a lot, but it’s not if you need to block an entire area code, or in my case, I only want to receive local calls. These devs should have made the limits more clear before charging for this product. With that said, it’s only $3. It could be a great app if Apple would lift the restrictions, or develop something that only allows certain area codes. Until then small business is overlooked and telemarketers prevail.

I really got tired of blocking individual spam numbers on the phone app. Now when I get a spam call from a new area code and number, I start by using the app to block the specific number and work towards the area code to stop the spamming. It works every time. I don't even know I had a call till I see the missed calls.

I installed this app after getting hammered by vampires calling from area code 771 (Washington DC). Blocked all calls from that area code. Set it up in seconds and I haven’t had one call since.

Works for 2-3 days then completely stops blocking numbers. I blocked an area code and it worked fine, then suddenly one day it did not. I have tried everything and it won’t work again. No idea who to contact for support.

Overall like the app. Wished it would legit block all the numbers instead of just not allowing it to ring through. Anybody else have an Apple Watch and not get all the notifications. I’ve had apple mess with it, gotten a new watch, changed settings… so I’m wondering if it’s maybe this app

### ***** "Block entire area codes!"
This was the first solid app I found that peacefully ended the torment of so-called neighbor spoofing robocalls. I got 5-7 calls a day from numbers beginning with the same first 6 of 10 digits as my number. This app made it easy to block them and forget about it.

Recently, iOS & this app updated to allow 50 million blocked numbers. So now I use this to block a couple entire area codes that spam calls predominantly come from for me. This was the best dollar I ever spent on the App Store.

Edit 12/2022 - been using this tool over 4 years now and it stops a lot of spam. Very flexible rule creation. Love this app.

Edit 9/2024 - still relying on this app to keep the relentless spoofed calls from my area code at bay. It’s still doing a magnificent job!

Edit 3/31/25 - Still loving this app, and believe it may be the only utility of its kind when it comes to being able to block entire area codes easily. Much appreciation to the developer.
