Published by: The New York Times

Description

Keep your mind sharp with word and logic puzzles from New York Times Games. Free to download, the app offers new puzzles daily for every skill level.
App Features and Games:
NEW: STRANDS
Our latest game lets you find hidden words and uncover the day’s theme. It’s the word search you know, with a twist.
WORDLE
Play the original Wordle — created by Josh Wardle — in our app. Guess the 5-letter word in 6 tries or less, and analyze your guesses with WordleBot.
SPELLING BEE
Is scrambling your strong suit? Play the daily Spelling Bee and see how many words you can make with 7 letters.
THE CROSSWORD
Subscribers can play the same daily puzzle that’s printed in The New York Times, in our app. Crosswords increase in difficulty throughout the week.
CONNECTIONS
Group words with a common thread. See if you can do it with four mistakes or fewer.
SUDOKU
Looking for a numbers game, minus the math? Play Sudoku and fill each 3x3 set of boxes with numbers 1 to 9. Play a new puzzle every day in easy, medium or hard mode.
THE MINI CROSSWORD
The Mini is all the fun of The Crossword, but you can solve it in seconds. These word puzzles don’t increase in difficulty throughout the week and feature simpler clues.
TILES
Unwind while you match elements in the day’s pattern — the key is to make consecutive matches.
LETTER BOXED
Create words using letters around the square. Letter Boxed is another fun way to test your word-making skills.
STATS
Track your progress for The Crossword, Wordle and Spelling Bee. For The Crossword, monitor your average solve times, see how many puzzles you can solve in a row, and more. Plus follow your streak on Wordle, and track how often you reach each level in Spelling Bee.
LEADERBOARDS
Start a friendly competition with The Mini leaderboards. Add up to 25 friends to see who can solve today’s Mini puzzle the fastest.
PUZZLE ARCHIVE
Subscribers can now solve over 10,000 past puzzles from Wordle, Spelling Bee and The Crossword.

NYT Games Reviews

Predatory autorenewal

VP12049 on

Canada

Auto renews subscription with no warning, unable in any way to do a partial refund or have recourse to not be subscribed after the date. Highly disappointing

Really fun!

Tihi👌😉 on

NYT games is really fun to play on your free time, Wordle, Connections, Letter boxes and strands are my personal favourites! There are NO ADS! Which someone like me who hates ads absolutely loves no ads but you need wifi to play, but overall good app! :)

Fixes bugs fast

THaldenby on

Fixed a screen share bug promptly.

Connections

Rdocbob on

Canada

The game connections is ridiculous. Looking at the answers after the fact, makes no sense that someone would be able to put these connections together beforehand. It’s worse than a guessing game.

Money Grab

MgoBLUE#Natty on

Canada

Don’t waste your time. Used to let you play Spelling Bee up to the “solid” level but they took that away to force you to buck up. Classy move NYT.

Bad design

nthnc on

Canada

Horrible user interface. Example (I pay for games subscription): To see the Wordle Bot, I go to the Wordle game, and there it is. I click it, and see the stats of how I did today vs everyone else. To see Connections Bot, I can’t just go to the Connections game because, nope, it’s not there. Instead, I have to go to the NYT website, search for the Connections FAQ, find the section on Connection Bot, and finally, from there, I ca see the stats compared to everyone else Not sure who made that stupid decision but you deserve a slow clap.

Charges for months after you cancel

cvstc on

I tried the 30 day trial and within a week I stopped the subscription from ever renewing for payment because I knew I would not use the full thing. I just found out I’ve been billed for three months!!!!

Please don’t release the mini early

Mini too soon on

Canada

I highly recommend this app if you are just new to crosswords and want to try your luck at the mini crosswords. I just find it unfortunate that they release the next day’s mini in the evening and you then miss out on that day’s mini crossword. It would be fabulous if you could release the mini and still have the option to complete the one from earlier in the day.

Good - Updates too soon

JammedMallard on

Canada

The puzzles are great fun! The app just updates The Mini and the sudoku puzzles to the next day at like 7:30 at night, so I don’t have a chance to finish them sometimes

Charges money even after you cancel the subscription

Iryna889 on

Terrible! After cancelling subscription I still got charged!
