Description

Obscura 4 is a camera app packed full of features to help you take incredible photos. Obscura pairs a stunning design with intuitive controls that make taking photos a delight.

Over its 8 years on the App Store, Obscura has been much numerous times around the world, including as Editors’ Choice and App of the Day.

Design

Obscura squeezes a bunch of powerful features into simple controls anyone can master. The interface balances aesthetics, ergonomics, and intuitiveness. You won’t want to use anything else. Controls can be reached with one thumb, and gestures and haptics combine to create a tactile experience that lets you stay focused on your subject.

Capture Modes & Formats

Obscura captures photos, videos, Live Photos, and portraits. Photos can captured in RAW, ProRAW, HEIC, and JPEG (on supported devices, see http://obscura.camera/compatibility).

Capture images in multiple different aspect ratios, or filters live in camera for a wide variety of styles.

Camera Settings
Obscura gives you control over exposure, focus, white balance, ISO, shutter speed, and flash, with intuitive controls that make you feel in control of your device’s camera.

View Options

Obscura lets you display a grid, a spirit level, a histogram, focus peaking, a focus loupe, and exposure clipping highlights to help you understand every detail of what you’re shooting.

Photo Library

Obscura has its own interface for browsing, rating, editing, and sharing images, but it’s fully integrated with your system photo library, so images captured with Obscura are available everywhere.

Obscura Ultra

Obscura is free to use, with an annual subscription for premium features. See http://obscura.camera/ultra for full details.

I hope you love using Obscura as much as I’ve loved designing and building it. If you do, please consider subscribing to Ultra, leaving a review, or just sharing with a friend.

All the best,
Ben

Crashes on iPhone SE 2022

PianimaSound on

I don’t have need for a high end phone, but wanted manual control and some way of getting a DNG from phone camera. While impressed by the UI, the app regularly crashes under iOS 16, often when deleting files. This also happens occasionally while taking photos. This affects real world usability a lot. Modern, Native feeling & Customizable, Crashes too frequently.

Tres Bon!

Super App. Sensible pricing, always welcome in this age of the digital (human) hoovers [and] (their filthy) subscriptions of far-too-much! The app is very slick, has good controls, and ‘with practice’ (AND view the user guidance/videos) you can become really useful.

I love using Obscura. i am no photographer, but the tools and menus are easy to use and navigate and it helps me take better pictures. i love the filters too! they’re really good.

I'd forgotten about this app....

I've been using a couple of other camera apps on my iPhone and sort of forgot about Obscura. However since I just upgraded to a new iPhone 13 I decided to review other apps and rediscovered this one. I have to say that it seems more intuitive and easy to use and suits my way of working. With the updated lenses on the 13 I'm able to get some really sharp detailed colourful images with ease...I think this is now going to earn a place in my iPhone dock...👍

I’ve been using Obscura3 for a few weeks now it’s been really easy to use but not that it lacks professionalism,it’s a lot easier to carry than DSLR.If you add all filters it’s got loads of extras.love it😂

Still testing but impressive so far.

I like things so far but still need a lot more testing. The one thing that is really annoying however is the size of the shutter button, it encroaches on text of the other controls. If this was about 75% of its current size the interface would be much smarter.

My long time go to Camera App

Graham iPhone on

I’ve been using Obscura for several years now, it’s been my go to Camera App that always delivers the best creative results. Particularly when taking industrial or architectural night shots the results are simply stunning. I like that we have live filters so you can ajust and juggle the camera angle to tweak and get incredible results. My posts using Obscura for the capture always get the most comments and appreciation. I was excited to see Obscura 3 pop up in the AppStore and am currently enjoying exploring this new stablemate in my Obscura collection.
