Buggiest app I’ve ever used. But I still use it!
This app has more bugs than any app I've ever used! I couldn’t even list them all if I tried. Even still I love this app.
Such great potential but it is so finicky and buggy it’s quite a frustration to use.
Frequently when I open the app I get a blank loading screen for a few seconds.
The editing is quite finicky. Moving the cursor and selecting text etc is often difficult (compared to Apple Notes for example) and buggy.
Recent bugs: can’t paste until closing and re-opening note, outline doesn’t show until closing and re-opening note, tapping on red underlined misspelled words doesn’t always bring up the suggestion, iCloud vaults don’t sync for hours, text selections run over the toolbar making it impossible to click a tool, using the back button doesn’t always return to the previously scrolled to section of the note—instead it goes back to the top. Three finger tap sometimes just does undo and sometimes (rarely) shows the Apple undo/paste menu, outline shows headings for a different note…
And so so many more. I discover more every day…
Awesome software
Obsidian is one of those things that is very easy to feel very grateful for. The only reason I’m giving this 4 stars is because it’s been a while now that the mobile app is completely unusable. I can’t open the vault, it gets stuck either at the “icloud configuration file sync” page or the loading screen after that. I would have not given this rating were it not taking so long for updates to roll out. Been having this issue on and off for months now until this point of complete hang. Please fix. Otherwise, 5 stars. Amazing tool.
Opens to a black screen
iPhone 15 pro opens to a black screen. Tried reinstalling, but the same thing happens.
Frozen on load
Obsidian frequently freezes on the load workspace screen when opening the app. It almost always happens and it's impossible to rely on the app to be pulled up when you need to take notes frequently.
Slow to open
Every time I open it on iOS it takes like 5 minutes to start, so it's unusable for quick notes
Great App that I use almost every day
This application is fantastic. It works extremely well with my iPad with Magic Keyboard, and it integrates with my computer well through Sync. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a powerful, plain-text note-taking applications. That's not even considering the fantastic community-built plugins.
Needs an on boarding process
The app is great, and has much potential, but as a brand new user, I was looking for some kind of process at first launch to get me started, and instead was presented only with a very unfriendly demand to create an account. ok, why? Let me start using your app first. Show me why I should use it and how, then create an account for me. And *never* present a user with an option at setup that cannot be changed later. Terrible design choice. Also, why am I prompted to name my vault? What is a vault? Why do I need to give it a name? Will I need more than one vault? Or can I just name it “Vault”? Again, don’t force new users to make an uninformed choice.
Not a note-taking app
I wouldn’t consider this a good note-taking app, especially for engineering. I would consider this more of a writing app. Why? Because it lacks handwriting support, plan and simple. This fixation on typing as the only way of taking notes just baffles me. Also, it handles images poorly (you can’t annotate them, for example) and only recently added basic table functions. I honestly don’t know what direction they’re going with this app. It’s sort of like a Frankenstein because of its reliance on community plugins (plugin this or plugin in that if you want to achieve some function that native obsidian can’t handle). Maybe when this app matures and really thinks about what it means to take notes, then I’ll consider it. Otherwise, it’s just like all the other typing-first “note-taking” applications
