As far as I can tell there is no way on the iPhone to make the character run. Not much help in the game figuring out what needs to be done. I like the graphics a lot, especially for a game this old. That said, there is absolutely zero sound design in this game, which makes gameplay feel very hollow. There are no sound effects for anything at all. Some of the in-game text references things making sounds, but… there’s no sound. Music still plays at least, but the soundtrack is hit or miss. I highly recommended this game if you are one or more of the following: -Like a fantasy narrative game with a story and puzzles to work through. -Don’t mind, or even enjoy a blocky, cartoon aesthetic. -Played Oceanhorn 2 (a “prequel” 1000yrs in the past of Oceanhorn 1) and want to make more sense of the, some say “perplexing”, ending. Make no mistake, OH1 is a step down in quality from OH2, but it is still very worth playing, especially if you want to understand the broader world and story arc they’ve created. -Or, from what I understand, if you’re a Zelda fan, you’ll also like this. There are some buggy elements to some of the mechanics that can be vexing at times. Other reviews cover them well enough so I won’t belabor that here. Oceanhorn is a gorgeous fun title that is well worth the asking price. It might be one of the most beautiful games on the App Store. Gameplay is smooth and the controls work well except during the boss battles where the speed and accuracy needed to win exceed the ability of iPhone touch controls which means you might not progress past the first boss for instance. Also, it is a bit grindy and the constant respawning of enemies is really annoying. I would however advise anybody getting into it to use youtube walkthroughs and wikis for help. Unless you are a level ten gamer some of the discoveries are very easy to miss and you can end up sitting in your boat wondering where you are supposed to go like an a-hole. Get a list of the island names and google "how to discover -----island" when you get lost, which you probably will. Use playthrough videos if you can't get past puzzles. It's called cheating. Do it.
