## Octo Aid Description
Octo-Aid (formally known as Home-Aid) is a project I started working on mid-2021 to help me easily view my electricity and gas usage via my Octopus Energy smart meter. The aim was for me to see what I was spending, when I was spending it, and therefore use this data to adjust my home energy usage accordingly.

As the cost of energy constantly changes and we all come under pressure to monitor and reduce our energy usage where possible, I figured that this app might be of use to the public, and if it helps just one person out there then it has served its purpose well.

I will be regularly updating this app with new features and tweaks, so if you would like something added or changed please let me know by leaving feedback or sending a feature suggestion via the apps settings. As I say, this app has helped me an awful lot over the past year and I hope that its wider public release will at least help someone else.

Features include (but are not limited to):
* View your live demand with up to 10 seconds latency using an Octopus Home Mini
* View energy usage with awesome statistics over the past weeks and months
* Drill down into half-hourly usage
* Find your tariffs through your Octopus Energy account, set a custom one of your own, or set an existing Octopus Tariff.
* Compare on peak usage to off peak usage
* Support for smart tariffs such as Octopus Tracker and Agile Octopus rates (the app will download these new rates regularly; the next days rates for Agile are published by Octopus Energy at around 4pm each day).
* View a forecast for this months bills with estimations based on current and previous usage
* View your export meter usage
* Export your consumption to a CSV file
* Intelligent Octopus support including smart schedules
* Calculate the best time to charge your EV

And much more...

Octo-Aid is as much a community driven project as it is a personal project. It’s thanks to the amazing feedback that I can continue development and make the journey towards building one of the most useful energy apps, so I want to say a huge thank-you to anyone who has helped me with this. If you do encounter an issue or have a request for something to be added to Octo-Aid, head over to the settings menu and tap the feedback option at the top to send me a message. And if you are enjoying this app, please do leave a rating on the App Store!

Note:
- Your actual octopus energy bill may or may not differ slightly to the amounts shown, therefore any amounts shown in this app should be used as a guide.
- You must be an Octopus Energy customer with a smart meter
- Neither I nor this app is affiliated in any way with Octopus Energy. I do not work for Octopus, I have just developed an app that utilises their API and crunches the figures.
- To view your electricity demand live, you will need an Octopus Home Mini device. As of the time of this being written, you can request a Home Mini for free from Octopus Energy. More information about this can be found on the Octopus website and the Octo-Aid website.

More details about features, terms and conditions and privacy for the Octo Aid Plus subscription can be found here:

## Octo Aid Reviews in United Kingdom

### *---- "Cancel my account"
I have messaged them and looked through every settings to try and delete my account. Absolute nowhere to just delete your account. Very poor service
-- NigellAsh, 2025-06-01

### ***** "Almost great but…"
My gas usage seems to be divided by 10 - my app shows 0.39kW used yesterday while the same app on my wife’s phone says 4kW. Cannot see any way to correct it. Removed App and reinstalled. Now okay.
-- macnetwork, 2025-05-24

### *---- "Horrible App"
Interface looks good, but absolutely horrible app, I am on Intelligent GO and it shows my whole billing on single peak rate! Wasted my time few times.
-- Satish141, 2025-05-12

### ***** "So far very good"
I’ve had this app for several months now.It remains very good gives me the information and data I want. Also seamless changeover when I changed tariffs.I have taken out the monthly subscription and feel its value for money.Updates are frequent and the developer responds to queries.Im not easily pleased so credit where credit is due
-- Allyw, 2024-12-15

### ***** "Unbelievable"
Staggered by this app, the amount of detail is incredible but extremely easy to understand
The app shows far more detail than the official app
-- GTR Nerd, 2024-12-04

### ***** "Amazing!"
Very nice app! Works very well!
-- John.UK, 2024-12-01

### ***** "This app is amazing"
Kudos to the developer here. It’s an amazing app, clean and nice to use. Gives nice and clear detail and forecasts etc.

I’m super impressed!
-- Desantos83, 2024-11-27

### *---- "Waste of space"
Useless. Seems to be unable to communicate with my accounts
-- OxfordDave, 2024-11-26

### ***-- "Great app but very slow these last few weeks."
Takes up to 3-4 mins to download and update data from the octopus account. Get a message saying high demand but unlikely to be when this happens at 2am. Is it the app or the octopus servers. That apart, a great app.
-- jimmy jay gee, 2024-11-09

### ***-- "Good but slow"
It's a good app, but it doesn't seem to cache anything. Every time I open it it takes 30s to load my data
-- anothersimonharris, 2024-11-08
