I havent ever played other Square Enix Gacha titles, but this one is the best I have done so far. Im around 30 hours in and already did more than 100 pulls as a 100% f2p. Story is nice. Things start getting more difficult towards the 4th chapter of the Master of All storyline snd you might start needing to actually grind for levels and exp. Overall exp from monsters is low but actually reasonable still (I am at mid 40s) . Cant talk about end game though.
I was looking forward to having this game on my iPhone but the game has been completely ruined by the monetization system. Square Enix should be ashamed. Yet another gambling game, paying for micro transaction to get random heroes, designed to get as much money as possible from the players who get addicted to the game. Another game ruined by unethical monetization. I hope the EU follows the Netherlands and makes these systems ilegal.

I’ve played both Octopath 1 and 2 (Completed) and CotC for maybe a year and a half. With that, I can say that this is one of the best mobile games if you’re looking for a strategy-based rpg. Even with the somewhat annoying gacha system, it’s not too difficult to get five stars due to the generosity during events. Additionally, if you’re a f2p, so am I and I have completed the entire story, start to finish, just persevere.
A solid all-around jrpg gacha for single player gamers. Perfect alternative to Another Eden which is unplayable due to joke load times. COTC also happens to be gorgeous to look at and fun to boot. What a concept. Worried about that transfer to netease next month but we’ll see. Maybe the honeymoon phase that comes with all ftp games will have passed by then anyways.
Would be great if could add controller support.
It’s been a great journey playing this game. I hope the next version of the app is even better.
