A wonderful idea and so far the information is correct and easy to understand. But the AI voice gets tripped up a lot, sputtering and missing symbols. The text colors get quite wonky and hard to read in the quiz section. But for what it is, DuoLingo for electronics (the repository is even named OhmieDuolingo), it’s not bad.

I don’t mind paying for things , but this whole movement of requiring payment before even seeing the app has got to stop. Let users have something like a beginner, medium, and advanced lesson for free to see what the app offers. Then ask for a trial if needed.

I’ve been looking for something to help me review the fundamentals of electronics and came across this app.  It’s been really helpful in terms of starting with the basics and building on that. Great concept/idea and app design, however you only try one micro lesson before they try and trap you into a subscription. Would be like Duolingo for electronics but they simply don’t offer a free or ad supported way to use the app. Before I commit to a recurring fee, there has to be a way for me to truly see if it’s worth. With the app the way it is now, that isn’t possible.

The voice that reads the explanations does a terrible job at speaking symbols and abbreviations. The app uses symbols and abbreviations constantly and the voice fills in some of these with (what sounds like) gibberish. It replaces the sign “=“ with something incomprehensible. This is just one of MANY examples. It is soooo distracting it makes learning difficult. Also, the app will use electronic symbols (such as L=Inductor and H=Unit of Inductance) without ever explaining the abbreviation. This leads to jumping back and forth between Google and Ohmie to help translate what it is telling you.

It sounds like something made in a different language and they tried to interpret into English.  The voice is annoying, too cutesy for me, and the phrasing and wording often doesn't make sense. Sometimes I have to read it over several times to try and understand what they're saying.
