In my experience this free (open source) Onion Browser by Mike Tigas works seamlessly with the free (open source) Orbot by the Tor project. Domestic connections (wifi, email) are not a problem and internet speed, though slightly reduced, is acceptable considering the extra layers of routing and encryption involved. Sweet.

As someone who does nothing illegal. I keep wondering why DuckDuckGo keeps letting through LOADS of analytics and content delivery and other unsettling stuff, also the app privacy report on iPhone. So using this in place of the normal browsers is great. Just hope it is working and blocking the trackers and things it claims too. I can’t tell but the fact it claims too and works great so far is enough for me, I just don’t like being spied on. As we all don’t. Your not normal if you like or don’t mind being spied on like your some criminal

Suggestion - Add a ‘clear browser data’ button to the ribbon bar, alongside the ‘new circuit’ button. I like to clear all data before moving on to the next site, just to be sure there are no cookies lurking around and tracking me.

great. exactly what we want.

of orbot, the less-than-venerable wiki says:

"It allows traffic from apps such as web browsers, email clients, map programs, and others to be routed via the Tor network."

so what have i missed? aren't they the same thing?

but wait! there's more...

the appstore tells us:

"Orbot is the original free and open-source Tor-powered VPN for iOS and macOS."

a tad more meaningful, given that "vpn" is mentioned nowhere in the wiki article.

so, i may be wrong (it wouldn't be the first time) and if i am, i'll gratefully welcome you correcting me, but what i see is here is enforced use of a vpn. ie a free, oversubscribed, woefully inferior one, as opposed to the quality account-provided vpn services you can readily expect the kind of people installing your onion browser to already be using.

in doing so, you've:

a) crippled everyone's network performance

b) summarily dismissed everyone who thinks "in a world of online tracking and surveillance, you get what you pay for"

i'm pressed to think of a single reason you'd impose this nonsense on everyone.

dumbing down, maybe?

in any case, making apps interdependent on one another at this level is ridiculous. if you give your user base no choice but to use this "TOR-powered VPN", then at least embed it in the app. (that might actually be even more disingenuous, but neither approach will bring back your disgruntled users.)

i remain highly appreciative of your excellent work and incredible skill, but i'll no longer be using your app as it stands.
