The app’s interface is attractive, and creating routes is simple, but it lacks navigation capabilities on a route that is created in app. It can navigate TO a route via another app, but it doesn’t provide route guidance, time remaining, or other essential features. Despite my request for a refund, I was denied. If you need route guidance, this app is not suitable. If these features are added, I will subscribe again.
Trails are terrible, useful layers locked behind upsell (I’m premium but not elite). Competitors way better.
OnX has never let me down or dumped me like some apps. Even when we were out of service in arches national in the pitch dark and didn’t have a map downloaded onX still came up. Can’t say enough about their products.
Got this once FATMAP was discontinued. OnX has terrible UI, terrible imaging, unreliable offline usage. I. Am completely surprised that so many people use it.
Slope angle layers are harder to read than FATMAP but it’s better than nothing. Same thing with colors of slope aspects. They are more difficult to read than FATMAP.
Don’t buy this app trial. The app has no way to unsubscribe and all attempts to follow the FAQ guide to do so lead to an endless cycle of links between the website and the app. In a year, you will charged again regardless of attempts to remove account and unsubscribe. I have had OnX hunt for years and I’m going to another app and report this charge as fraud. Shame on the app developers for making it impossible to unsubscribe.

Love the ONX Backcountry app. This is my go to tool when preparing for my outdoor excursions. I’ve become reliant on the app when planning my routes based on mileage, water sources, and camping areas. I don’t go into the backcountry without downloading my maps to use offline so I can still track my location and progress. Their customer service can’t be beat! I had an issue with my subscription on Christmas Day, and not only did I have a response within an hour of contacting the customer service team, but a resolution
The premium subscription is a little pricey but it’s worth it, it’s easy to learn the app and helps a lot when planning a trip or bushwhacking a new mountain
Really poor quality satellite imagery- lots of missing winter coverage, clunky route creation and viewing. Overall pan/explore/mapping experience is very clunky. You’ll spend a lot of time squinting and re-zooming or rotating the map after it flies off to look at something else unexpectedly.
